- This shortcut repeats the structure of Coffee and Cigarettes. This time, Iggy Pop and Tom Waits meet in a bar. But, again, we don't know why they agreed to do that in the first place, because they don't seem to know each other very well and they don't have much to talk about, so the conversation wanders idly and hilariously as they sip their coffee and smoke cigarettes.
- Santiago wakes up like any other morning. He goes down to the kitchen and his whole family is waiting for him: it's his birthday. They all sing "Happy Birthday to You" and give him presents. But when he opens the present of his youngest son, he gets angry and says he doesn't like it. The boy starts crying and saying that he loves him, but Santiago answers that he doesn't believe him and he tells the boy that he is fired and that he wants another son, who is thinner, who doesn't need glasses and who resembles him more.
- In the village of Fuentecilla is a medicinal spa which was very popular in the past but has now been forgotten by the public. To bring back the tourists, the "prominent men" of the village organize a fake miracle: the apparition of San Dimas, the local patron saint, which will take place every Thursday night. At first it works, but trouble begins when a stranger appears, claiming that he knows what's going on and making peculiar demands in exchange for his silence.
- Daniel is a yuppie hasn't been been able to lead a satisfactory sentimental life. One day he meets Yolanda, a beautiful young woman who has a daughter, Patricia, and who hasn't been very lucky in life either. They decide to get together and they go to live in his house, an old and eerie mansion. Soon enough, their relationship starts to become difficult; the isolation of the house and Daniel's mysterious past transform Yolanda's illusions of happiness into an existence of fear and distrust. Finally Yolanda decides to find out who the person she's living with really is, and in doing so she puts her life and her daughter's at risk...
- Antonio and Concha, a couple who are constantly fighting about money, win the Christmas Lottery first prize. Concha, who is very bossy, starts making decisions about how they're going to spend it. But Antonio is fed up with her, he just wants to go to Brazil, lay in the sun, and never see her again. So he starts to plan how to get rid of her...
- A man comes into a bar in which there's only one other customer and asks the bartender to serve him a Mirinda (a Spanish orange drink). But then he refuses to pay for it, saying that the bartender had never warned him that he would have to; when the bartender insists, the man takes out a rifle and kills him. Then he asks the other customer to keep serving him more Mirindas, and therefore this other man sees himself forced to replace the bartender, for fear of what the killer will do to him if he doesn't...
- Late at night, a boy and a girl are waiting for the last train in a subway station, which is deserted but for them. They are thinking to themselves about their problems, and we hear their thoughts as voice over monologues. Soon they start exchanging casual glances; they find each other very attractive, and, separately but simultaneously, they start to fantasize about what would happen if they got together that night. They get really excited with this game in their minds; It's almost like they've fallen in love at first sight. And then they hear the train coming... they have to take a decision: Will they dare to say to each other what they're feeling before it's too late?
