- An older man named Don Mariano lives in a very large house with his grown-up children and hired help. One day he trys to kill himself, but fails and instead goes into a deep depression. However, a young lady named Rosita comes to stay in the house, and she starts to take care of the bed-stricken Don Mariano using her charm and witch powers. The two of them fall in love, and meanwhile his immediate children do all they can in hopes of getting the inheritance. In the end, Don Mariano and Rosita must flee from the greedy children.
- A woman nearing her forties, Andrea Soriana, has always pushed aside personal questions and romantic relationships in pursuit of professional success. When the Italian envoy, Piero Bellini, arrives in Buenos Aires, Ana discovers he is physically identical to the man she made up. At first she is shocked (especially when she meets his wife), but soon the two work together happily and are able to find just what they want and need from each other.
- During the time of the Spanish-American War, the commandant of a Spanish detachment in Baler, in the Philippines, realizes that the native people of his district are planning an insurrection. He orders his troops to entrench in the village church. During their stay, which is prolonged for nearly a year, there are several incidents which show the tenacity and heroism of the Spanish.
- A young lady nicknamed La Raulito is flown from Buenos Aires, Argentina to Madrid to be the actress in an interview type film. She has an interesting story having been a psychiatric patient for many years. The film is about her answering questions and thus describing her life. She is accompanied by two other ladies who do not really care about her. At first all goes well, but soon Raulito starts feeling pressured by her new career.
- American agents intent on wiping out Bolsheviks are after Roberto--an Argentine expatriate writer, inventor and Communist in Rotterdam in 1941. He runs from them with his briefcase full of his invention-- non-running silk stockings--and money he has received from the Japanese for his invention. He accidentally tumbles down a stairwell and into a whorehouse. He gives the Madame a large portion of his money and goes upstairs with Luba, one of the prostitutes, to wait out the Americans. By the time the night is over, he has fallen in love with her.
- Tells the story of an idealistic young politician's rise and fall. Daam, a well-intentioned but vacillating European-trained politician must choose between two social paradigms exemplified by his two wives. The first, Gagnesiri, is the village beauty, who waits patiently for Daam. Unfortunately, they are unable to conceive a child, so Daam takes European-educated Kiné, who is eager to get ahead by marrying a politician. Daam becomes involved in a shady business deal with Président, a local businessman; when the details are made public, he is forced out in disgrace.

- Raúl Salas is the general secretary of a major union in Córdoba, Argentina who is trying to fight the union politics as best he can despite continual defeat. It is a time of unrest, around 1975, and Salas watches and hopes that what he builds will last. However, even the greatest of leaders can only do so much.

He has a somewhat overbearing wife, and soon falls in love with a beautiful singer, Lita, that has come into town to sing. His wife sees him one day kissing Lita and she leaves with their son. At first Pascual decides to be with Lita and work where she is singing, but when it doesn't work out, he is forced to face the realities of life.
