- A young woman marries a security guard and gets entangled in the numerous debilitating problems of her husband's family.
- An innocent young woman (Alma Moreno) who sells flowers in a small-town cabaret frequented by down-and-out prostitutes is lusted after by the son (Nonong de Andres) of a school principal, played by Anita Linda. An aging gardener (Palito) takes her in to try to protect her from the harsh world, though secretly, he too lusts after the young girl, in spite of his impotence caused by the war. She goes to school, where morality and empty platitudes are mouthed, but the attempts at life's lessons are foiled by the realities of the cabaret world. While the school and the gardener try to protect her innocence, the young girl is lured by the temptation of the worldly cabaret, and her womanhood is awakened.
- Diego (Robin Padilla), as Manila Boy, played the bad boy image but tries to deviate from it by being a soft heart species among the throngs of the city. He had an open heart for the needy and gay men were easily charmed by his stinky smell, putrid breath, and farcical, down-to-earth attitude.
- A man is torn between what his wants and his love for the woman he married.
- On December 12, 1888, twenty (20) young women from the leading mestizo-sangley clans of Malolos signed a letter asking permission from governor-general Valeriano Weyler to open a night school where they could learn the Spanish language. The women, accompanied by a relative, trooped to the Convento of Malolos and personally presented the letter to Weyler, who was then visiting Malolos, to the chagrin of the Augustinian friar curate of the town, Felipe Garcia, who was deliberately kept in the dark about the women's plan. They are the forerunners of feminist movements in the Philippines. This event reached Jose Rizal while he was in London, England, and was so moved by it that he wrote an essay dedicated to these women of Malolos.
- Ramon (John Regala) stole everything from his brother Yoyong (Raul Zaragosa), including his girlfriend Olga (Roselle Agana). Will Yoyong be able to forgive his brother especially when he is in danger at the hands of Drago (Patrick dela Rosa)?
- Hoping that Julia's (Lolita Rodriguez) marriage to Martin (Carlos Salazar), the son of a wealthy businessman, would give her the comforts of life, Lucio (Ric Rodrigo) gives up his love. Julia marries Martin because she badly needs money for her sick mother. But Martin's father objects to the marriage and disowns him. Martin dies in a car accident leaving his widow and two children penniless. News of Julia's ill fortune reaches Lucio who sees her just as she is about to be assaulted by a hoodlum. The hoodlum dies while Lucio tries to defend Julia, and the death is blamed on Lucio. He is imprisoned, but is able to escape, clears himself, and finally gets reunited with Julia.
