Daryl update: AMC's first Season 7 sneak peek scene hinted to Daryl in danger, either as Negan's first target or from some other bad news.

The Powers That Be swear "no one is safe," but it seems like they wouldn't dare kill Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), right? But the writers love to put Daryl in danger, almost as much as they love torturing Glenn (Steven Yeun), and since Daryl isn't in the comic book, they could do anything with his storyline. Like give him a certain iconic comic book death, as some fans fear.

Daryl was the first of our group to see the Saviors, a new group of bad guys. And Dwight (Austin Amelio) did just shoot the guy. Dwight could certainly make an argument to his group that Daryl should be next on the kill list. Then again, if Dwight wanted to kill Daryl, would he have told him, "You'll be all right?" Daryl helped Dwight earlier in Season 6, and that may end up saving him.

Glenn

Glenn is the producers' favorite target to put in danger, and the No. 1 guess for Negan's first victim.

That's based on "The Walking Dead" comic book, although the show has proven time and time again that it doesn't want to be seen as predictable, giving characters on TV the deaths of people in the comic. We just saw that in Denise, who got Abraham's death in the comic. Hershel got Tyreese's death.

But Glenn's comic book death is so iconic it still seems like they're going to go for it. Also, Maggie's storyline seems to be setting up for her future at Hilltop, which currently has an obstetrician on TV, and where she moves in the comic after Glenn's death.

Then again, they have almost killed Glenn so many times, and even had a fake-out earlier in Season 6, so would it be too obvious now? We've even seen photos of Glenn with baseball bats, which could be further foreshadowing of his comic book death or intentional misdirection. Which is it?

Danai Gurira in The Walking Dead (2010)

Michonne

In Season 6, Episode 15, Michonne (Danai Gurira) was seen tied up with Glenn, and now she's part of Negan's lineup. Comic book Negan doesn't like to kill women, but TV Negan may want to keep us on our toes with surprises. No one is safe. Even if Michonne survives the lineup, she is a warrior who has shown she's willing to do anything to protect her family — especially Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs), but really anyone in our group. And now that Rick has lost his last two love interests, we should probably worry about any woman he's into.

4
Jeffrey Dean Morgan in Extant (2014)

Negan

Fans may not worry about Negan dying, but he is the one person who should cause them the most worry — not just in Season 7, but potentially beyond.

Negan is the leader of the Saviors, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Season 6 finale entrance was compared to an "atomic bomb" being dropped on our group. The question is: Who was the victim of that bomb? There's no saying the show will follow the comic book on this. And even if they do follow the book, that advance knowledge won't make the result any less painful.

In the comic, Negan just killed one member of our group in his intro, but he may not stick to one on TV. Also, he didn't quite leave Alexandria alone after that, and we should expect an all-out-war's worth of carnage ahead.

5
Melissa McBride in The Walking Dead (2010)

Carol

Carol (Melissa McBride) was fully committed to the "kill or be killed" mindset, but Morgan's (Lennie James) words seemed to touch a nerve with her, and she started keeping a kill list. Now she doesn't want to kill. We last saw her leaving Alexandria, and getting attacked, and the Season 7 trailer suggests she and Morgan are headed to a new survivor community called the Kingdom.

Carol's crisis of conscience is cause for concern. Plus, like Morgan, her character is already dead in the comic — in her case a long time ago at the prison. Her future is unclear, and as long as she's separated from the main group, we're going to worry about her.

6
Lauren Cohan in The Walking Dead (2010)

Maggie, and her baby

Maggie (Lauren Cohan) is currently pregnant, and we've already seen her experience serious stomach pains. It seems too early for a birth, and no matter what may be the issue, there is no doctor in Alexandria to help. Since the Saviors appear to be everywhere now, it seems unlikely that the group can safely get her to Hilltop, assuming she survives Negan's lineup at all. And if anything happens to Glenn, that will obviously just make her situation more precarious.

7
Chandler Riggs in The Walking Dead (2010)

Carl

Carl already had his eye shot out, so we should stop worrying that something else will happen to him, right? Wrong! Carl is still Carl. He is his father's son. And if TWD follows (Robert Kirkman's) comic book, he may do something quite bold in Season 7, as a response to Negan's intro kill.

8
Lennie James and Benedict Samuel in The Walking Dead (2010)

Morgan

Morgan's "all life is precious" mantra sounded great on paper, but it caused plenty of problems in Alexandria. He has fallen into the dangerous role of a moral compass character, and we've seen (Dale, Hershel, Tyreese, etc.) what usually happens to them.

Plus, while TV Morgan is now on a very different journey than comic book Morgan, the character died back in the Alexandria mega-herd attack in the comic, so his future on TV is a blank slate. Maybe he's not meant to stay with the characters for the long haul, just teach them a few lessons about alternatives to "kill or be killed" and then depart.

9
Michael Cudlitz in The Walking Dead (2010)

Abraham

Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) just got himself a reprieve, with Denise getting his comic book death. What does that mean for the future of the character? Is he going to be blessed with the comic-to-TV longevity of Carol, who has long outlasted her counterpart? Or are they saving him for a different fate? Abraham is rarely away from the action, and his orange hair is front and center in Negan's lineup. Now that war with the Saviors is on the horizon, fans of the ginger one-liner king should worry for his safety. They should worry a lot.

10
Corey Hawkins in The Walking Dead (2010)

Heath

Heath (Corey Hawkins) is a fairly significant character in the comics, but he hasn't had a ton to do on the TV show, and now we're worried he won't have time to be a main player in Season 7. We last saw Heath and Tara (Alanna Masterson) preparing for a two-week supply run. They were spared Negan's lineup, but we don't know where they are or if they are even still alive. Season 7 will probably reveal what they've been up to, but we're more worried for Heath than Tara because it has already been revealed that Corey Hawkins has been cast as the lead in the new series "24: Legacy." It's hard to see how he could do both shows, so... goodbye, Heath?
