Maura states that the panda is closely related to the spectacled bear of South Africa. The spectacled bear is only found in South America.

That body was not well preserved and it was daft to say it was. No body would be well preserved in those conditions. Even children know that you need heat to dry things. And the maggots Maura claimed showed cause of death had been eating the "beautifully preserved" corpse.

Maggots need warmth to grow. Since they were in a cold room, the lack of growth didn't remotely indicate poison.

Apparently Maura doesn't know anything about Egyptian mummies, mummies, or Egypt. Egypt is in Africa, that's a hot continent. No-one was building fridges in 2000BC. It takes several weeks of complicated work to complete the process of completely dehydrating the corpse to make a mummy, no-one just left the body in a cold, dry room. Apart from a couple of bird species, no creature has a brain small enough to be pulled out through their nose. And a wire wouldn't be of much use. A properly made hooked tool (a little like a sharp crochet hook) was uses to "scramble" the brain so it can be scraped and kind of poured out through the nose.

The whole process has been reproduced for a TV show, following the instructions left by ancient Egyptians, so there's really no reason for someone with Maura's thirst for knowledge and interest in anthropology, not to know how it works.

It is not possible to tell even an approximate date of death from the victim's blouse collar. A majority of people don't follow fashions, they wear what they like, and tastes rarely change. People don't usually change how they dress after the age of about 20. Also, flounce collars have been around for over a century. And nobody could tell could know whether the victim chose, or even put on, the clothes her body was found wearing. So what the collar actually told Maura was that the victim was wearing a feminine style of clothing, from sometime in the last 100 or so years. That's it.

Comparing a natural miscarriage to one caused by a beating is not helpful in any way; for Jane or viewers. Psychologically, a natural miscarriage is so damaging because the women's bodies betrayed them, and they usually blame themselves for something they had no control over. Jane knows why her baby died, and what she could have done to prevent it.
