- Lena is happily married to Bodo. She spots a very attractive man on a tram and has a spontaneous sexual encounter with him. The stranger, Martin, also thinks this secret encounter will not harm his marriage to Solveig. What appeared to be a harmless adventure turns into to a new territory of desire and longing. - A wild family tale: 15-year-old Mareike lives with her mother Jutta (43), her sister Franca (9), her brother Tim (6) and some chickens in a suburb of Mannheim. Jutta's job as a detective at the local department store doesn't pay much, so the family is always a little short of money. Mareike's ambitious plans to become a model and to participate in an expensive training are therefore problematic. And momentarily Mareike is rather chubby and doesn't really look like the classical beauty. But nevertheless she is prepared to go to any length to have her way and is full of ideas. Jutta hasn't overcome the death of her husband yet, nor have the children. Now she tries to keep her beginning love affair to her colleague Winnie a secret, but doesn't really feel happy about it. Mareike attempts to earn money for her model "education", and jobs around at the weekly market to prove to her mother how serious she is. There she meets Samir, a German-Arabian boy who Mareike immediately falls in love with. To impress him Mareike signs up for a belly dancing class, distrustfully watched by Jutta, who is nerved by her daughter's body fixation. But dancing gives Mareike a sudden boost of confidence and a lust for life, which Jutta must notice positively. And then suddenly Mareikes hair starts to fall out - a shock. An autoimmune disorder is diagnosed. There is no cure. Mareike's world is shattered...
- Franz is a bartender at a bar named "Cindy Does not Love Me". He's a laid back sort of a guy who is quite content to drift. Then he meets Maria. Her uncompromising manner is so different to that of everyone else he knows and Franz soon finds himself falling in love with her. But then, one day, Maria simply disappears. Just like that, without saying goodbye or leaving a note. Franz sets off in search of her and soon comes across David, an up and coming public prosecutor who is the complete opposite of Franz. David seems to know exactly what he wants and has it all mapped out. The two men are flabbergasted to learn that Maria had a relationship with both of them at the same time. The bereft lovers decide to look for Maria. They pay a visit to her mother, who is not prepared to tell them much about her daughter. David steals a letter from the mother's house that appears to indicate a spell in a psychiatric clinic. As soon as the men arrive at the clinic they run into a shifty carer who is able to divulge a little more about Maria's time there. The more difficult their search becomes and the more time the men spend together, the more Franz begins to realize just how much he loves Maria. He won't be able to bear it if she turns out to love David more. Nonetheless, the rivalry between Franz and David gradually transforms into a weird friendship. And then they come across an address in Maria's medical file that leads them to Denmark. That's where they meet Olaf.
