By naming this prize after him we intend to celebrate not only the president, but also our late friend. We thus intend to honor a professional category which is often overlooked. With their spirit and their commitment, independent producers are a fundamental force for new and experimental cinema; the very cinema that Locarno has always cherished and promoted.
