1991
  • The festival's youth juries will be presided by a prominent honorary president from this year on.

1996
  • A new festival section, "Schermi d'Infanzia", which is dedicated to presenting films geared to 8 to 11 year olds, is added.

1997
  • The festival fragments into many categories. The principal competition becomes "Free To Fly", and "Schermi d'Infanzia" becomes "Early Screens".

1998
  • A new festival section, "Preludi", which is dedicated to short films is introduced as well as the non-competitive "La Finestra sul Cortile" (Rear Window), reserved to adolescents aged 15/18.

1999
  • The "La Finestra sul Cortile" (Rear Window) festival section, introduced in 1998, becomes competitive.
