- WinnerScreenwriter and producer Simon Kinberg is a true creative force in the entertainment field, having written screenplays for Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Jumper, Sherlock Holmes, and This Means War. He has co-produced such films as Elysium, Cinderella, Chappie, The Martian, Deadpool, and several of the X-Men film releases over the years including the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse.
- WinnerNichelle Nichols starred as Communications Officer Lt. Uhura in the classic television series, Star Trek, which is celebrating its' 50th Anniversary this year. Ms. Nichols is receiving this award for her contributions to genre entertainment, the musical arts, and her tirelesss support of NASA and space exploration.
- WinnerThe Breakthrough Performance Award is an honor embracing new talent and this year's recipient is actor Melissa Benoist. She is currently the star of the popular CBS series, Supergirl. Some of her earlier work includes a role in Glee and in the film Whiplash. She is one of this generation's brightest talents. She is a positive role model to young kids with her work on the successful series, Supergirl.
- WinnerProducer and writer Eric Kripke is the creator and producer of one of television's most popular genre shows, Supernatural, which has been on the air since 2005. Eric's work also includes the NBC series Revolution, Ghost Facers, and Tarzan which he created with Mike Werb and Michael Colleary. His newest project is the upcoming tv event, Time. Eric is one of the most successful and sought after showrunners in television today.
- WinnerProducer Brannon Braga is the co-creator and executive producer of the hit WGN series, Salem. Brannon is also known for his work on three Star Trek series: Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager, and Star Trek: Enterprise. He was also the producer of the television program, Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, Terra Nova, Flashforward, Threshold, and 24. This talented writer and producer is deserving of special recognition for his contributions to genre entertainment.
- The Spotlight Award is being presented to the outstanding television series, Better Call Saul, which airs on AMC. This series which was created by Peter Gould and Vince Gilligan is one of the most engaging programs on television. Conceived from the world of AMC's Breaking Bad, this series follows characters who revolve around attorney Jimmy McGill. The series co-stars Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Rhea Seehorn, Patrick Fabian, Michael Mando, and Michael McKean. Better Call Saul has a brilliant creative team of writers, directors, producers, and an ensemble of some of the best actors working in the TV medium.
