- A film group is making a movie in a small village. The story is based on true events that has happened in the the same village a few decades ago. A dis-liked writer Pentti Töysä arrives in the middle of a press conference and claims that he is the true writer of the film. He has made some changes in the script and these changes will bring an old crime to light. But in the following night Töysä is being killed and the final draft of the script is missing...
- Esa is a small time crook who has been precisely released from prison. He starts to make money by mugging people. One day psychiatrist Lindström rings Esa's doorbell. He has a very strange request: he wants Esa to maltreat him. Esa accepts this request, but he is not aware of Lindström's bad intentions.
- Pentti Anttila is a journalist who accidentally ends up in to a mental institution. There he meets a woman who claims that she is being kept there by force. Penttilä starts to investigate the case and ends up in a little town named Järvensuu. There he drifts into a conflict with the local mob.
- Arno Jurmala is an appreciated nickel tycoon. He has an elegant wife and he owns a huge nickel factory somewhere in Northern Finland. When he is celebrating his birthday in the late 1930s, the guest list consists of significant people from different countries all over the world. What they don't know is that behind the neat facade Jurmala is a ruthless man without any morals or virtues. He can do anything to make more money. Without hesitating he kills his worst competitors and all his employees who have let him disappointed. And when the Second World War begins, he trades with Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union - depending on who is winning at the moment. He also mishandles his wife, unable to have children, which has driven her to become a drug-addict.
- Viktor Sundvall is a guard of a little channel in the Finnish countryside. He is an unsuccessful playwright who is frustrated with his marriage and his life and therefore he has became an alcoholic. One Saturday-morning in august he is waiting for a visit of an old family-friend Maija Länsilehto with whom he has had a relationship in his youth. But Sundvall does not know that the Saturday will be the last day of his life.
- Two men, Nieminen and Varjola, commit a mail van robbery. Varjola betrays his friend: shoots him and takes the loot. Nieminen is arrested, but he refuses to reveal his accomplice's name. On his first leave on prison Nieminen finds Varjola in a small town, where he has became the mayor. Varjola, of course, is shocked to see his old friend again.
- Gizella Weisz is an middle-aged office worker, who gets a promotion one day. Her boss told her that a new outpost is waiting for her. There she would be heading a new section. She travels from place to another and finally arrives at her new outpost. It is a remote shed, where a half-insane co-worker is waiting for her. It is obvious that Weisz has not been promoted, but punished. However Weisz does not realize that herself. Without questioning she just accepts her promotion.
- Marja is a prostitute who has to run away, when her pimp Jussi robs and kills one of her costumers. She finds a hiding place in a mansion on the country side. Marja falls in love with the master of the mansion, but Jussi finds out Marjas whereabouts and comes to meet her.
- A small gang of criminals is planning to commit a gold heist not knowing that the new member of their gang is actually a police detective. But when his true identity is revealed to the gang they act like they wouldn't know about it and decide to use the detective to accomplish their plans about the heist.
- A mad writer checks into a hotel. In the window of a opposite building he sees four men and starts to write their life story. Every man is an anonymous person who have done or experienced something irreversible in his life. They end up together to plan a heist.
- Kari Syysmäki, a Finnish Businessman is on a vacation with his wife in Tallinn. When his wife is away a young man enters their hotel room with a gun. He tells to the businessman that he has just tried to rob a bank, but accidentally shot one of the clerks. Now he's hiding from the cops. But when the bank robber forgets his gun on the table, Syysmäki grabs it and shoots him in the back. After that Syysmäki refuses to travel back to Finland with his wife. He stays in Tallinn and soon he's about to face both the cops and the mob of Estonia.
- Pertti works as a telegraph operator on a ship. When it arrives in Helsinki, Pertti looks forward to seeing his mother again, and also the neighbor girl, with whom he is in love. But his plans change when he steps into a restaurant with the first officer of the ship when they go ashore.
- The Antela Family is celebrating Chrismas. They have a relative, who is accustomed to play Santa Claus to amuse their son. But when Santa Claus arrives, he appears to be someone else than the man they are waiting for. Behind the Santa Claus's mask is a man, who has come to murder the father of the family.
- Two men are in love with the same woman. The one is a fine fellow, the other one is a practical joker. The fine fellow buys a box of pastry from baker Helin, but the practical joker buys a tail of a calf from saddler Sundell. While the fine fellow is dressing up and getting ready to meet his loved one, the practical joker change takes the pastry out of the box and puts the tail in it. The fine fellow and his loved one coo on a bench in Hämeenpuisto and on the slope of Pyynikke. Finally they open the box of pastry. The loved one gives a slap on the fine fellow's ear, when she notices the tail in the box. The End. (This synopsis of the film was publish in Elokuva-Aitta -magazine in 1933).
