Two similar Christian religious statues are shown in the convent in the film. One is on the floor in the blue room where Dean first meets Sister Clodagh to talk business. It is hidden behind the nuns where they enter to speak to Dean. (at around 19 mins) Another very similar statue, but bearing a cross (possibly Ste. Faith), is shown next to Dean as he converses with Sister Clodagh. It has some packing material (straw) on it. Later on (at around 27 mins), this second statue is shown being unpacked from its crate by Dean and a servant to be placed above the doorway leading to the yard.
(at around 38 mins) The way Clodagh holds the pole changes.
(at around 57 mins) The glass of water next to the short, square black object changes position over a couple minutes.
There are tiny Shetland ponies portraying the rather larger Himalayan Zanskari or Spiti, the ponies or horses that would be accurate to the region. But of course there was no budget for importing these animals.
Near the beginning, the bell for the future school and infirmary is rung. As the bell swings forward towards the viewer, it partially disappears behind some scenery that depicts landscape which is supposed to be behind the bell.
When Mr. Dean looks at his watch, the second hand shows that it is ticking backwards.
The bell rings once for each complete swing, but it should ring twice (forward and back).
During a shot of the Himalayan mountains, stagehands can be seen standing and walking about behind the scrim on which the mountains are painted.
(at around 30 mins) There is a camera shadow on the urn to the left.
An Australian kookaburra is heard laughing in a bamboo forest in the Himalayan foothills.
