Bad taste and wasting time
26 December 2021
Corny plot, overacting actors, horrible directing, commercial like cinematography... It could not be worse.

The only good thing about the movie is Philemon Chambers - a promising young actor.

Boring...
24 June 2021
Beautifully filmed (great job of the art director Boym), but extremely boring movie. Konchalovskiy gathered very good actors, but they failed to play in ensemble. So every actor plays his own movie. It reminds me a bit of Mechanical Piano by Mikhalkov, but much, much worse.

Super long and super boring movie
26 April 2021
I passionately love history, but unfortunately historical movies usually suck. This movie sucks too. Flat characters, pretty naive narrative (everyone is evil but "patriotic" Prince Mihai), super long and super boring... Never again.

A cheap vaudeville about nazi-agents.
18 March 2021
One of the weakest Hitchcock post-war movies. Bergman and Grant are the horrible duet. They don't even try to play love, they exist in the moves absolutely separately from each other. Grant is fooling around and he can't even pretend he loves Bergman. About her, it's definitely not her role. The only good part of the movie is the charming Claude Rains, but he fails to play a guy who is much more stupid than he is. A political thriller in a vaudeville way. Poor Hitchcock, he had to film this cheap anti-German propaganda.

Very promising debut
23 January 2021
Such a remarkable debut for Bernard Cronenberg. I love the idea, cinematography, soundtrack (sometimes it sounds like from Tarkovsky' 'Solaris') and Caleb's acting. A bit too confusing ending... but zero cliches though.

A nice movie, but it has aged...
21 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The movie has a very nice cinematography, but the plot is so confusing and naive. Sometimes, it looks like a bunch of funny (or supposed to be funny) episodes, some of them has no any logical continuation. For instance, once seeing main characters hiding from Illarion his son's death, we never know if he ever knew about it later. The guy who plays Zuriko is fairly charming, but his acting could be better. Unfortunately the movie was originally dubbed in Russian, so we can't hear the original actors voices in Georgian.

7 for the bravery to film it.
2 January 2021
From 2021 it's not easy to watch this movie as it seems very naive. But I understand that in 1969 it was a big deal to film it.

Disappointing
11 December 2020
Looks like the director didn't know what to do with the main idea of the story. It's like leaving a car when you suddenly realize you forgot where you go to...

Disastrous mediocre
11 December 2020
A great example of Hollywood style mediocre. You need a great 'talent' to kill the very promising main idea of the script and create such a cheesy movie. Acting is just ok, except Zeta Jones who is very bad and actually the worst actress in this movie. Also, the script is not original at all and reminds me Primal Fear - the great thriller from 1996 by Gregory Hoblit with incredible Edward Norton.
