The Passion of the Christ (2004)
Awe-inspiring
Wow. This movie leaves you speechless and somewhat emotionally drained. You walk away from this movie with an "experience," not just having watched a film.
My only wish is that they would have had more film about the Resurrection and the events after it. But as Mel Gibson has said, you can only fit so much into a movie.
You should already know what's in the film, so I won't get into those details. It accomplishes what it sets out to accomplish.
Prepare to leave the theater speechless. .
Special Report: Journey to Mars (1996)
Horrible.
Please, do NOT listen to the people who gave this movie positive marks. "Horrible" doesn't do this movie justice. Bad acting, sub-par special effects and a bad script are just a few of its downfalls. And Judge R. (the reporter) gave me hives just by his irritating acting.
Over the Top (1987)
Forget the wannabe movie critics...
Some LOVE this movie. I do. I LOVE the soundtrack. You'll see a million posts from "critics" on here who will look down their nose at this flick. Do you like a movie? WATCH IT! Forget what these morons say about bad cinematography, etc. Movie-makers create films for one reason -- viewers' pleasure (which brings money). Great 80's movie. Period.
Orgazmo (1997)
Amusing, entertaining
While there are few "laugh out loud" moments in this movie, you'll certainly enjoy it if you're a Trey Parker fan. Matt Stone (who plays a minor role) is hilarious in his role as a very strange production assistant who constantly makes homosexual references but always precedes them with "I hope this doesn't sound gay, but..."
Like South Park humor? Watch this movie. It actually has an entertaining plot as well.
Pulp Fiction (1994)
A classic...
Incredibly original and entertaining movie. Director Q.T. really pulled off what Kevin Smith failed to do in Clerks -- Combine great actors with a very intelligent script (& plenty of witty dialogue). Although the script gets just a tad pretentious at times (do real hitmen speak this way and about these subjects? Probably not), the movie's certainly worth the watching. Rent/buy it!
Clerks (1994)
Well written...horrible acting...
Maybe, like the other guy who said he had the movie built up to him by his friends only to find the movie mediocre, I was expecting too much. But after watching 30-40 minutes of this movie, the acting was SO bad that I stopped watching. While Smith's script and plot seem very entertaining and witty, the deliverers of the lines left much to be desired. The worst? The person who played Randall. The long dialogues were sharp but delivered like high schoolers (or worse) practicing for a school play. I could almost see the script in Randall's hand as he spoke (he spoke like he was reading it straight from the script). I tried to forget the bad acting -- really, I did. It was hard work. But I couldn't make it through.
The actors who played the customers (who only got a couple of minutes of air time) were much better than the stars of the film.
I'm going to try Kevin Smith's other movies next. Hopefully the ideas and scripts are just as good -- with BETTER ACTORS!
