Good documentary about Carroll Shelby's life and work. Great film footage keeps it interesting. The background music is so loud...at times it drowns out the dialogue.

Worth seeing even for those who are not into racing

Important film with ALL the ingredients - and terrible sound carpet.

A must-see for everybody who's interested in racing history. It seems like everybody who survived those years is in it, even Ken Miles' son. Fantastic archival material (great footage, superb stills, vintage interview bits) make for a great documentary about Shelby / Cobra / the GT 40 etc. It would have been a total winner if the filmmakers would have trusted their own skills and the content more - most of the running time the film is spoiled by a terrible, noisy, never ending musical sound carpet. TV guys do this all the time, fearing that the audience suffering from attention deficit disorder might switch the channel if there's a second or two without noise. Which is very unfortunate - I had to stop the film every 20-30 mintes, I got headaches from trying to follow the narration / interviews (no pauses there as well unfortunately, no "mood scenes") buried under 2 hrs of music. A good documentary needs to live and breath as any feature film. But the film is a great treasure regarding all the ingredients and effort behind it !!
Really Good

Worth it for the topic

OK. So it's not great documentary making. No soul, flat presentation and leaves you asking questions all the way through.
But the subject matter is greatly interesting and it give it 10 for the content, 6 for the making and so even it out at 8.
I was entertained all the way - no skipping.

What's with the non-stop background music?

A Great Tribute to Mr. Shelby

I learned alot in this documentary. Some of it followed the Ford v Ferrari movie but most of it was the before, during, and after of Shelby.. and Ford that wasn't shared. I'm happy a watched this. I now know alot more about Shelby than I ever have. He was cheated for awhile. After all he'd done it's a shame. I have no respect for Henry Ford II. Anyway, I'm glad Carroll Shelby was living the life he wanted in the end.
The Pacing Was Like An Engine Misfiring

(Flash Review)
This documentary attempted to encapsulate the professional career of Carroll Shelby; the automotive racing icon. Splicing together some genuine racing footage, some talking heads and pictures, the film covered a lot of information. The trouble for me is the pacing jumped around abruptly and unevenly and never gave me an inspirational feel for his career and life. It was also formulaic and didn't take any creative approaches. Informative, yes; entertaining, not so much.

A great account of an important man in motor history

Very good summary of the life of an all American hero and all round nice guy. Everyone interested in motor racing will find this a useful trot through the history of a seriously successful racer and the cars and projects that he was involved with.
Highly recommend this with its fabulous footage and commentary from other equally famous competitors

Shelby was a stud

This was super interesting, as I really didn't know much about Shelby. He was an amazing guy.You can't really compare this to Ford versus Ferrari, as this was an informative documentary focusing on Carroll Shelby. And for those who think the musics too loud, I'm confused. I think you should get your hearing checked.
A big sloppy kiss to Carrol Shelby

Left a lot out, like how he sued the Shelby club. Also how he may have been killed by his desire to see Linda Vaughn - who had the flu, because he just had to see "them big ol' ti!tties". IDK if he motorboated them, but he caught the cold that killed him soon thereafter. Would like to see a complete picture of the man, not 'Saint Caroll'. And I do respect his accomplishments. Suggest the production team watch 'Founder' the story of Ray Kroc/McDonalds. A flawed man that also accomplished something very big.
Also the movie got repetitious and boring after a while. Living in LA, there's no excuse not to get some training in editing, pacing, and sound design. This movie could use a more talented hand at the wheel. Before making team next doc, this team really needs to improve.
