Jim Wiseman’s Sky original documentary “Williams and Mansell: Red 5” is set for a debut on Sky Documentaries and Now on July 8. Featuring some of the biggest names in F1, it follows Nigel Mansell and the Williams Racing team’s rise to fame told through the eyes of his team, family and drivers including Jenson Button, Damon Hill and Karun Chandhok.
Mansell grew up in England in the 1960s, dreaming of becoming a professional race car driver, despite not having the financial means for it, while Frank Williams was realizing his own dream at the company he founded, Williams Grand Prix Engineering. The two joined forces, and after years of trying to win together, Mansell left to join Ferrari and then ultimately retired from racing after years of ups and downs, without ever winning the Formula One Drivers’ Championship. But seemingly overnight, he came out of retirement and re-joined Williams Racing.

Exclusive: Sam Mendes has picked Johnny Flynn, Tuppence Middleton and Sherlock’s Mark Gatiss to portray legendary stars Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor and John Gielgud in The Motive and the Cue, a mouth-watering new play by Jack Thorne that explores how acting giants Burton and Gielgud staged Hamlet on Broadway in 1964.
Burton, newly wed to Taylor after their affair on the set of epic film Cleopatra, signed on to play the Danish prince in a fabled production directed by Gielgud in New York.
On opening night in April, 1964, scores of police hemmed in crowds who were as eager to catch a glimpse of Taylor entering the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre as they were to see her husband as the depressed Dane.

Exclusive: Sam Mendes, the Oscar and Tony award-winning director, has chosen three London theater stars — Michael Balogun (National Theatre Live: Death of England-Delroy), Hadley Fraser (Donmar Theatre’s Coriolanus), and Nigel Lindsay (Chichester Festival Theatre’s Woman In Mind) — to bring his much-garlanded production of The Lehman Trilogy back into the West End. That’s following triumphant runs at the UK’s National Theatre, the Park Avenue Armory and Broadway, and a phenomenal 16-week, sold-out run at London’s Piccadilly Theatre in 2019.
The actors will portray the Bavarian-born Lehman brothers, Emanuel, Mayer, and Henry, who settled in Alabama as cotton merchants, a springboard to what was to become what Balogun termed “a giant machine” on Wall Street. Simon Russell Beale, Adam Godley, and Ben Miles originally performed the multiple roles of the Lehman brothers and their descendants — male and female, old and young — in London and New York.

The proceedings this year take place on September 3rd at Rich Mix in London with a programme of films that range from war-room thrillers to screwball comedies. Dn has covered the films at Tsn for a number of years now and we find ourselves continuously enamoured by the talent on display from the directors currently rising through the ranks of the British film industry. “England can be an unforgiving place if you happen to be German”
England, 1939.
17 days before the start of World War 2, English teacher Wheatley (Nigel Lindsay) goes missing from The Augusta-Victoria College for Girls in Bexley-on-Sea, the boarding school famous for housing the daughters and goddaughters of Nazi High Command. 6 days later Thomas Miller (Eddie Izzard) secures a job replacing Wheatley and from then on, tries to secretly find out what exactly happened. Inspired by true events, Six Minutes to Midnight is a period thriller written by Eddie Izzard, director Andy Goddard and co-writer Celyn Jones.
The film starts off strong, with fast-paced, intense scenes from Lindsey and Izzard. It’s accompanied by German composer Marc Streitenfeld’s beautiful score which is a delight to listen to throughout the film. This makes for a great start to the film, with an intriguing mystery to look forward to…or so you would hope.

Netflix has released the first trailer for an upcoming new crime thriller called Safe. The series stars Michael C. Hall and he plays a widowed surgeon named Tom Delaney, whose daughter goes missing. The story follows his journey as he goes out looking for her and in the process "begins unearthing dark secrets about the people closest to him in a wealthy gated community."
The series was created by best-selling novelist Harlan Coben (the “Myron Bolitar” novel series) with a screenplay by Danny Brocklehurst. The series also stars Amanda Abbington, Audrey Fleurot, Hannah Arterton, Emmett J. Scanlan, Marc Warren, Nigel Lindsay and Laila Rouass.
I like Michael C. Hall and I've enjoyed the shows that he's made so I'll definitely be checking this new series out. Check out the trailer and let us know if you'll be giving it a shot!

Michael C. Hall has long been a central part in shows closely associated with danger, whether it comes from the characters he plays (“Dexter”) or his characters deal with what comes after (“Six Feet Under”). From the looks of his new Netflix show “Safe,” he’s moved on to playing someone stuck between the two.
In “Safe,” he plays Tom, a surgeon still dealing with the aftermath of his wife’s death a year after it happened. Raising the rest of his family alone, his world gets upended again when one of his daughters goes missing. To make matters even more complicated, he finds out that the community he’s raised his kids in for so long is made up of at least a few people who are not exactly as they seem.
“Safe” also stars Amanda Abbington as a detective who helps Tom in his pursuit of answers. The series’ ensemble includes Audrey Fleurot,...

Some movies become classics for all the wrong reasons. 2010’s Four Lions, the British terrorist spoof about a crew of bumbling would-be bombers, still rattles in my mind whenever terrorism hits the news. Isil/Isis attacks on Brussels, gunmen in Mali, and continued atrocities in Turkey plague innocent people while those unaffected battle responses ranging from complacent abstractions (“Thoughts and prayers to #Brussels”) to exploitative grandstanding (“Build a wall”). The great strength of Four Lions is its response to extremism: laughter. Successfully wielded in the Ku Klux Klan scene in Quentin Tarantino’s 2012 Western Django Unchained, there is no more effective way to remove the power of hate than by reframing that hate as complete incompetence. Never shying from the dangerous reality – guns and horseback lynch mobs retain their flame-licked horror – Tarantino understands that the true power stems from a fearful response, so he makes his terrorists buffoons with ill-cut hoods. Four Lions...

Looking to blow off some steam, Lindsay Lohan headed over to the National Liberal Club in London to celebrate her press night performance of “Speed The Plow” last night (October 2).
Joined by costars Richard Schiff and Nigel Lindsay, the “Parent Trap” hottie was all smiles as she paraded around in her shimmery dress and posed for photos.
Unfortunately, LiLo and her play didn’t score very high with the critics, as Mark Shenton of The Stage really tore into the whole production.
He wrote, “This is the most indefensibly opportunistic production of a play about some of life's opportunists: beyond satire, a truly cynical event. It has been staged primarily as a vehicle for @LindsayLohan, cruelly out of her league & embarrassing onstage, still calling for prompts. The Lindsay we should be talking about is Nigel Lindsay [who played the lead], not Lindsay Lohan; he's outstanding, full of sweaty anxiety for the right reasons. The...

Lindsay Lohan made her West End stage debut in London on Thursday night, appearing in Speed-the-Plow with a performance that received mixed reviews from the U.K. press. The 28-year-old plays the secretary Karen in David Mamet’s Hollywood satire — a role made famous by Madonna on Broadway in 1988 and played by Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss in the 2008 revival — and appears alongside West Wing star Richard Schiff and U.K. stage actor Nigel Lindsay. Ignoring the harsh critics, Lindsay Lohan kept positive during a photocall for “Speed the Plow” inside London’s Playhouse Theatre on Tuesday (September 30).
The “Mean Girls” star performed alongside Nigel Lindsay and Richard Schiff for the press and really dived into her character, Madonna.
Despite mixed reviews for its openings, Lohan defended the performance to the Mirror and said, “It could’ve been a disaster – but it wasn’t by far.”
“I respect people have an opinion, but I’m doing the best I can and will for the duration. I’m doing this because working makes me feel happy and this is a new venture for me,” the 28-year-old actress continued.

Lindsay Lohan forgot her lines in her first-ever theater performance last night. That’s the headline gleefully reported all over the web today, and it’s accurate. But what hasn’t been so widely reported is that Lohan wasn’t the first to make a mistake during the opening night of David Mamet’s Speed-the-Plow at London’s Playhouse Theater. Richard Schiff, who has far more experience, called out, “Give me the line, please,” within minutes of starting the play. British actor Nigel Lindsay was the only person in the three-actor play to get through the entire performance without an audible prompt, and even he seemed to struggle at times to remember what came next.Director Lindsay Posner spoke to the Independent yesterday about the process of rehearsing Mamet’s fast-paced play. He described how he asked the actors to drill the lines until they internalized them, and told the newspaper,...

By 2010, Hollywood’s obsession with 3D movies was in full swing. James Cameron’s Avatar may have given audiences a taste of what the cutting edge of stereoscope could look like, but it has to be said that the movies ushered into cinemas in its wake were a decidedly mixed bunch. When it comes to British television if you were to mention Steve Coogan even the most cynical of fan would smile, he is just that type of man. He is a man who will give his all for comedy, and maybe even take a moment to be dramatic if the moment calls for it (think Philomena). The fact is though there will always be a few characters that we will all remember, and no this time it’s not Paul Calf it is in fact Alan Partridge who has his moment to shine in Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa.
The safest story for Alan to make a return would probably be him trying to get back onto the BBC yet again,...
