Plot: Studio Ponoc’s The Imaginary portrays the depths of humanity and creativity through the eyes of young Amanda and her imaginary companion, Rudger, a boy no one can see imagined by Amanda to share her thrilling make-believe adventures. Review: When I was a child, I became very sick. I spent much time in and out of the hospital and had few opportunities to make new friends. To combat the loneliness, I imagined a new friend, January. She was a young ghost girl who followed me everywhere I went, causing mischief, encouraging me to feel better, and listening when I needed to cleanse myself of negative thoughts about my uncertain recovery. As the years passed and I got better, January began to disappear. Three nights ago, I...

Nicolas Cage tries to protect his two young sons at the tail end of the apocalypse. Here’s our review of Arcadian.
Stories about the end of the world are increasingly popular in both cinema and television. They make particularly potent horror films or shows, but it’s a highly saturated market and it’s tougher and tougher to stand out, which is the biggest challenge director Benjamin Brewer faces with his horror thriller Arcadian.
Nicolas Cage plays Paul, a single father raising two teenage boys in a post-apocalyptic setting. The family lives in a remote farmhouse far away from whatever remains of civilisation, and life seems to be relatively unremarkable during the day, but mysterious creatures attack their house after nightfall.
It’s hard being a teenager in regular society, never mind one that has been completely decimated. One of Paul’s sons, Thomas (Maxwell Jenkins), harbours a crush...

In a Variety profile of legendary composer John Williams earlier this year, director Steven Spielberg singled out a reason why the musician's work seems to stand out among his contemporaries.
"Every score he's ever composed, and even the ones that might have the most complicated orchestrations, he always has a beautiful main theme," Spielberg said. "And I don't hear themes being written for movies as much as they used to be by Jerry Goldsmith, Elmer Bernstein, Max Steiner, Dimitri Tiomkin and Bernard Herrmann. Film composition isn't a lost art, but thematic scoring is becoming more and more a lost art. And the great thing about Johnny is, he's still got it."
Of course, to say Williams has "still got it" is something of an understatement. The prolific composer is synonymous with the type of sweeping, powerful, emotional music that helped to define blockbuster filmmaking. A crucial part of why those scores clicked with audiences,...

ason Shah Recalls ‘Stressful’ Time On Heeramandi Sets! (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Being a part of a massive project like Heeramandi is ideally an achievement, but the memory is bittersweet for Jason Shah. You must remember him as ruthless British officer Alastair Cartwright. The actor did not have the best time on sets despite working with co-stars like Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Manisha Koirala, and others. Scroll below to know why!
Heeramandi boasts an ensemble cast of Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sonakshi Sinha, Sharmin Segal, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Jayati Bhatia, Shruti Sharma, Fardeen Khan, Shekhar Suman, Adhyayan Suman, Indresh Malik, Pratibha Ranta, among others. Licorice Pizza star Cooper Hoffman is set to star alongside Industry’s David Jonsson in the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s The Long Walk.
An adaptation of Stephen King’s 1979 dystopian novella The Long Walk has been on the horizon for several years now meaning that fans of the book have faced a wait that has been even longer than the titular walk itself.
While The Long Walk might sound like the way you’d like to spend a sunny Sunday morning, rest assured that this isn’t that kind of stroll. Instead, envisage a futuristic dystopian society where young people enter a state-sanctioned murder fest, walking until they can’t walk anymore. When they fall, stumble or even slow down, they don’t get a cup of water or one of those silver blankets. In fact, their only reward is a quick (and televised) execution.

Five years ago, Jennifer Lopez was on a white-hot tour, selling out arenas like Madison Square Garden and performing her popular hits from the late ‘90s and early 2000s.
Lopez is a multifaceted entertainer, but the stage is where she truly shines. She will give you slick choreography, dazzling costumes and bright, beaming lights. For her, being onstage is being at home. Her performance alongside Shakira at the Super Bowl halftime show, which came months after her 2019 It’s My Party nationwide jaunt, further proved this.
So selling out an arena tour — the same venues Lopez has performed at for two decades — isn’t normally a problem for the star. And Live Nation wouldn’t have booked a tour if it didn’t think she could sell the tickets. But Lopez’s headline-making decision to cancel her upcoming trek due to family issues amid reports of poor ticket sales likely...

Some movies and actors stick with you through the decades, leaving you with random moments of nostalgia that can occur at any time.
While the '80s have different levels of fame, perhaps the greatest gift it gave was The Brat Pack, a group of young, up-and-coming actors often seen on film together and occasionally off-screen.
What actors belong to the group varies by who you ask. Some people consider the members to be those listed by reporter David Blum in his now infamous 1985 article in the New York Magazine.
But 1980s Brat Pack fans have their own list of eight core members we grew up watching act together. It started with The Breakfast Club and then St. Elmo's Fire.
Now, they're on some of our favorite movies and series. But regardless of what they do, they're often still associated with belonging to the Brat Pack.

Pennywise the Clown is one of actor Bill Skarsgård’s most well-known roles. Reflecting on his portrayal in the It movies, Skarsgård discussed the mixed reception to his character’s initial reveal. The actor shared these thoughts in a recent interview with Esquire, which covered his diverse range of movie roles. Reflecting on the Role Before Skarsgård’s unforgettable turn as Pennywise, Tim Curry famously played the sadistic clown in the 1990 miniseries version of It. Stephen King once remarked about Curry’s casting, saying, There was some doubt about it. He hadn’t played a part like that before. You’ve got to be gutsy...

There are a plethora of reasons why the recently released X-Men ‘97 proved to be the kind of stellar success that it quickly became. The animation style, the continuation of the narrative, the quality of it itself, and the way in which it remained true to its roots were bound to impress viewers worldwide.
However, another reason it proved such a stellar watch was down to the kind of tragedies that graced our screen. Fans who have already watched the 10-episode-strong Season 1 will know exactly what we are talking about, especially with respect to Episode 5, Remember It, which we shall surely remember for a long time to come.

As the mastermind behind the Dutton family saga, Yellowstone, Taylor Sheridan embarks on a solitary journey, carving out his empire of episodes at Paramount Network with a hands-on approach that goes against the grain. With an Oscar nomination to his name, his ethic is clear: his stories, be they Yellowstone, 1883, or 1923, thrive on character-driven narratives and have deeply ingrained personal authenticity—a rarity in the industry.
Last year, THR claimed that Sheridan’s approach had produced an astounding “60 scripts for Yellowstone”. Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Paramount Media Networks, said this accomplishment is the result of a passion that cannot be taught but must be marveled at. But without the teamwork that characterizes TV’s creative process, is Sheridan’s unique vision viable?

Apparently, Sheridan would rather defy the WGA’s efforts to persuade studios to hire a minimum number of writers for each scripted program.

The list of movies is only guaranteed to be available until the end of June, but until then Apple TV+ customers can watch some true classics.
Apple TV+ is continuing to step out of its wheelhouse and try something new in 2024. At the start of March, the streamer imported a wide selection of movies from various Hollywood studios, marking the first time in its history that Apple TV+ had added on a substantial number of non-original titles. Those films were only available for a limited time, some as short as a few weeks, but it proved popular enough for the platform to add more in April. Now, as first reported by 9to5 Mac, Apple TV+ is rolling out another wave of licensed films as it tries to determine which ones its audience are responding to the most.

The latest episode of Last Week Tonight is being blocked by broadcasters in India—just as host John Oliver predicted.
“Meaningful criticism of [Prime Minister Narendra] Modi is scarce on TV in India,” Oliver told viewers during Sunday’s episode of Last Week Tonight, which focused largely on India’s contentious elections. His monologue called out the many acts of censorship enacted by Modi, the “uncritical, fawning praise” the leader receives from the media, and the proliferation of anti-Muslim extremism under his regime.
Oliver’s coverage has now become part of that scarcity, as the entire Last Week Tonight episode has been made unavailable to viewers in India.
According to The Independent, the June 2 episode is not currently available on JioCinema, Last Week Tonight‘s streaming partner in India. Even on YouTube, the video has been blocked to viewers attempting to watch the episode from India.

The man behind Pennywise’s makeup could once again reprise the role. According to Deadline and various other media outlets, Bill Skarsgard could return to the town of Derry to terrorize more innocent victims. “Welcome to Derry” has been in various stages of production since the writer and actor struck last year.
“Welcome to Derry” is set in the world of King’s It universe. The series expands the vision established by filmmaker Andy Muschietti in the feature films, which amassed a combined $1.17 billion worldwide. The world of special effects makeup often feels like a dying art, with studios and streamers increasingly pursuing CGI and digital FX over practical artistry. Now, there is absolutely room for both styles and different films call for different methods, but gone are the days where the average moviegoer can recognize the name of a special effects makeup artist. Diehard fans are, of course, the exception to the rule, and there's at least one name that horror fanatics all know by heart and are stoked as hell to see on an end credits crawl: Steven Kostanski.
For the uninitiated, Steven Kostanski is one of the most fascinating voices in genre cinema working today. His films "The Void" and "Psycho Goreman" are both well-loved favorites, he finally gave the "Leprechaun" franchise a solid film with "Leprechaun Returns," and Kostanski's...

Et tu, Dr. Sullivan? The fifth episode of Pretty Little Liars: Summer School, now streaming on Max, confirms the girls’ suspicions about their smooth-talking therapist — one that bumps her to the top of their suspect list.
Following last week’s bombshell that Dr. Sullivan treated Rose Waters, it was also revealed that the good (or not-so-good) doc has been keeping detailed records of her sessions with the girls. Annabeth Gish’s character is apparently writing a book about adolescent survivors of traumatic events, for which she’s also using information she acquired while treating the original Liars back in the day.

Few big new studio wide releases, yes, but Viggo Mortensen’s latest is on 700 screens, plus limited openings for Chris Wilcha’s Flipside, Judd Apatow EP, and Spanish animated, Oscar-nominated Robot Dreams from Neon. Bleecker Street’s family drama Ezra and IFC Films’ arthouse slasher In A Violent Nature are technically wide but both well under 1,500 screens.
Viggo Mortensen directed, wrote and stars in Western The Dead Don’t Hurt presented by Shout! Studios on 730 screens. The story of star-crossed lovers on the western U.S. frontier in the 1860s sees Vivienne Le Coudy (Vicky Krieps), a fiercely independent woman, settle in Nevada with Danish immigrant Holger Olsen (Mortensen). But the outbreak of the Civil War separates them as Olsen goes to fight with the Union army, leaving Vivienne alone in a town full of corrupt officials. Premiered in Toronto, see Deadline review. It’s Mortensen’s second outing behind the camera since 2020’s Falling.

Bill Skarsgard will return as the terrifying Pennywise in TV series Welcome To Derry, a prequel to director Andy Muschietti’s It movies.
Bill Skarsgard, who brought his singular screen presence to the role of Pennywise the Clown in director Andrew Muschietti’s It movies, is to reprise the part in an upcoming prequel TV series. According to Deadline, Welcome To Derry (said to be a working title) will explore Pennywise’s origins in 1960s Maine. The show originally began production last May, but was delayed due to that year’s Hollywood strikes.
Andy Muschietti’s 2017 and 2019 films received critical praise and did big business at the box office, with plaudits going to Skarsgard’s commitment to Pennywise, with his performance switching seamlessly between low-key eeriness and over-the-top wildness. It's impossible to overstate the popularity of "It Chapter One" and "It Chapter Two," or how Bill Skarsgård's turn as the horrifying Pennywise the Clown has become the definitive portrayal for multiple generations. Based on the terrifying novel by Stephen King, "It" and Skarsgård's ability to move his eyes independently is most certainly responsible for increased levels of coulrophobia around the globe. The otherworldly creature known as It comes in many forms, but Pennywise the Clown is undoubtedly his most famous. Since arriving in the town of Derry, Maine, It has been devouring the citizens for hundreds of years, resting for 27 years between feeding cycles.

Deadline reports that Bill Skarsgård is set to reprise his role of Pennywise the clown for the upcoming It prequel series Welcome to Derry (which may end up only being a working title).
In addition to starring in the It prequel series, Bill Skarsgård will also executive produce. When asked last year, the actor said he wasn’t involved in the series, so I think fans are relieved that he will be lending his bloodthirsty giggle to the proceedings after all. Skarsgård’s take on Pennywise was instantly iconic in my eyes, so it was hard to imagine the series either skipping the character altogether or recasting. I’m excited to see him come back.

Ryan Gosling’s The Fall Guy seems to have had a rough run at the box office. Based on the TV show of the same name, the film followed Gosling as a stuntman who gets involved in a conspiracy involving the lead actor of a film directed by his ex-girlfriend, played by Emily Blunt. The action comedy was directed by David Leitch, who last helmed Bullet Train.
Gosling’s film reportedly only earned a meager $145 million against a $127 million budget, making it a box office bomb. While the film received positive responses from fans and critics, author Stephen King seemed to have had a mixed reaction to the film. He reportedly disagreed with a review of the film that called it ‘great fun’.

One of the most anticipated prequel films of all time has to be George Miller‘s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. After the initial announcement back in 2010, the anticipation for the film only grew after the release of Mad Max: Fury Road in 2015, and nearly 9 years later the film we have all been waiting for is finally here and I am really happy to say that it will exceed everyone’s expectations.
Based on the characters from Mad Max: Fury Road by Miller, the prequel film is directed by Miller from a screenplay co-written by Nico Lathouris and Miller and it follows the story of a young Furiosa as she is snatched from Green Place of Many Mothers and handed over to the great biker horde’s warlord Dementus as they make their way through the Wasteland and come across the Citadel ruled by Immortan Joe. As Dementus and Immortan...

The cinematic adaptation of It Ends With Us is set to bloom later this summer, and the trailer for the Sony Pictures film, directed by Justin Baldoni and adapted from Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel, racked up a record number of views in the first 24 hours after it debuted.
Starring Blake Lively, who also executive produces, as protagonist Lily Bloom, the clip, set to Taylor Swift’s “My Tears Ricochet” shows Lily ecstatic to open her flower shop in Boston, with Jenny Slate’s character Alyssa turning on the neon sign. Alyssa is related to Baldoni’s Ryle Kincaid, who stops by the shop and sparks a connection with Lily. Lily has a traumatic past, but reminders of her parents’ relationship surface in Ryle’s behavior as well as her reconnection with ex-boyfriend Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar).

It’s the end of the world as we know it, they feel fine. In the first look at Season 2 of The Walking Dead: Dead City that AMC dropped Thursday, we get everything that we’d expect: Jeffrey Dean Morgan glowering as Negan, Lauren Cohan opening a can of whoop-ass and, here and there, a laugh.

As early as 2018 Jamaican superstar Shenseea was telling interviewers “By next year I want to be international, and when I say that, I don’t mean just as a dancehall artiste, but an international pop star.” Just last week Shenseea wondered aloud to Spotify if she should start classifying her sound as “dancehall pop” or “reggae pop.” Her second album, Never Gets Late Here, boldly continues on that long road to be the first Jamaican-born Main Pop Girl since Grace Jones and, thankfully, her attempts are mostly seamless.

Artificial Intelligence is taking over the world slowly but surely. Many people have started losing their jobs because they are being replaced left and right by AI systems which seem to do hours of work in a few seconds. Needless to say, AI is as much a bane as it is a boon. Steven Spielberg was one of the first to give an insight into a world with advanced AI in his 2001 film A.I. Artificial Intelligence.

In a recent interview, Malcolm X colleagues Spike Lee and Giancarlo Esposito opened up about artificial intelligence and the danger it poses to both the film industry and the world. While Spike Lee admitted that A.I. Artificial Intelligence was his introduction to AI, Giancarlo Esposito was firm in his belief that no matter how much technology advances, you will never be able to replace the “soulfulness” of human beings.
