- TriviaAlthough heavily modified, the series bears close resemblance in the overall arch of an infiltrated government official, the web of double crosses concerning military industry, its highly nationalistic tone and even title, to Verräter (1936), a German propaganda film produced by the UFA under Joseph Goebbels. The movie is now considered (despite its original use) a thriller masterpiece, and became the highest grossing film in Europe, winning several awards.
- GoofsCompletely destroyed by bombing in May 1941, the House of Commons at the Palace of Westminster was not used again until rebuilding was completed in 1950. The Commons used the House of Lords chamber instead, so the parliamentary scenes should show red seating, not green.

Terrific series
I am bewildered by the poor reviews. I lived through this period and I found the story, the dialogue and the acting exciting and convincing. The characters are very varied and the twists and turns gripping and unforeseeable.
If one is looking for mindless action as per James Bond or the others, this is not for you (not to say there is no action: there is, but it is properly integrated into an interesting story). If you are an intelligent viewer who likes to be challenged a bit, go for it.
