Alan Harper: [Alan has a bad case of the flu, Charlie wants to tell him some 'great news'] There is no great news, there is no light at the end of the tunnel, there is no silver lining. There's just this hell on earth, and the slow wait for the sweet release of death.
- Crazy creditsAs with the end of every episode, Chuck Lorre has his own Vanity Card. This episode vanity card reads in part. "CHUCK LORRE PRODUCTIONS 113 Every so often I'm hit with an overwhelmingly urge to write. An inchoate feeling wells up inside me and demands to substantiate itself through the power of words. When I sat down to write this vanity card, I was in the grip of such a feeling. Thankfully, it has passed."

A solid first series episode
One of the nice things about these early episodes of the show is that there are very little plot. This means that the relationships of the characters can really shine through, as can the performances from Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer.
There's not a lot going on in this episode, other than both the ill Harper brothers trying to get well enough to go out on a double date.
There are some nice interactions along the way though, and some sharp lines that more than make up for the lack of plot.
Overall a decent episode in a good first series.
