- TriviaIn her essay "Humphrey and Bogey", Louise Brooks wrote that more than any other role that Humphrey Bogart played, it was the role of Dixon Steele in this movie that came closest to the real Bogart she knew.
- GoofsWhen Dixon pours drinks for himself and Mildred, he uncaps a bottle and pours into the glass. Between cuts, the bottle appears capped before he is seen recapping it. In the subsequent shots, he moves the same bottle from one place to another, and it appears first uncapped, then capped.

Lacks Places To Go
Humphrey Bogart plays a writer with a violent temper who is suspected of a murder. The film doesn't show all the events but it gives you enough information that you're fairly confident he's innocent. But along with Gloria Grahame's character, the film starts to test your confidence. In one or two lines it might sound intriguing but that's only a couple of lines. Not a 94 minute picture. The film plays out as if it has a few scenes to move the plot and a whole bunch just to kill time to get to the next important scene. Ultimately it turns out that he's innocent and just a guy with a bad temper. The ending feels very convenient and underwhelming and doesn't pack the emotion it intends to.
In A Lonely Place does contain many of the aspects you might watch this film for. Humphrey Bogart and his all attention grabbing persona, some witty lines(though there is a fair amount of dialouge that is anything but) and a mysterious concept. However, it is neither thrilling nor dramatic as it just doesn't have many places to go.
