The woman who replaced a former Miss USA who resigned her post claims she’s been subjected to public abuse.
The current Miss USA, Savannah Gankiewicz, said she has received death threats and hateful messages in the wake of predecessor Noelia Voigt’s resignation.
Gankiewicz said in a speech that the backlash she’s received “breaks my heart.”
“Since I’ve gotten this title, I’ve dealt with a lot of bullying and harassment, and it really does, it breaks my heart,” Gankiewicz said in a video shared last week on X.
“Sorry. I didn’t want to cry, but I just feel like it’s hard, because I wish people saw where my heart is coming from,” she said. “And it’s helping Lahaina and helping Maui residents and having a platform, but also showing young women that you can get bullied and you can hurt but you stand...

The CW will be taking a long, hard look at whether it will air the Miss USA Pageant and Miss Teen USA Pageant in August following controversy at the organization.
Earlier this month, Miss USA 2023 Noelia Voigt and Miss Teen USA 2023 UmaSofia Srivastava resigned from their positions, accusing the organizers of abuse and bullying.
Voigt said that she relinquished her crown, publicly stating that she wanted to prioritize her mental well-being, calling the organization a “toxic work environment” in a resignation letter obtained by the New York Times that “at best, is poor management and, at worst, is bullying and harassment”.
Last month, The CW struck an exclusive, three-year deal to keep both events on its schedule after Miss USA became its number new special of the year with viewership peaking at over 1.1M, per Nielsen.

The mothers of Noelia Voigt, the former Miss USA 2023, and UmaSofia Srivastava, the former Miss Teen USA 2023, have come forward to shed light on their daughters’ surprise resignations.
Jackeline Voigt, Noelia’s mother, and Barbara Srivastava, UmaSofia’s mother, expressed their concerns and called for reforms within the Miss USA pageant system in an interview with Good Morning America.
Jackeline emphasized that their daughters’ decisions were not motivated by the prizes or material gains associated with the pageant. Instead, they were prompted by their alleged mistreatment, abuse, bullying and feeling cornered. Barbara further claimed that her daughter had experienced bullying from Miss Teen USA management, which had resulted in missed opportunities. She also voiced her concerns over her daughter’s social media account and alleged that it had been subjected to surveillance and control by the pageant’s management.
Jackeline disclosed that she became aware of something amiss after an incident at a Christmas parade.

The Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants were thrown into disarray this week as reigning titleholders, Noelia Voigt and UmaSofia Srivastava, both announced their resignations on Monday. In separate Instagram posts, Voigt and Srivastava cited mental health concerns and a misalignment of personal values with the parent organization as the reasons behind their decisions.
Voigt became the first Venezuelan American woman to win the Miss USA title in September 2023. The 24-year-old, who had been scheduled to compete in the future Miss Universe pageant, stated that making decisions that align with one’s well-being is crucial. Voigt’s resignation post drew attention from internet sleuths who speculated a hidden message within her statement.
