Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
What could go wrong
With so many wonderful actors and a director who made Safety Not Guaranteed, what could go wrong. The answer is plenty. Some of the dialogue was so pathetic, you could even see the actors cringe as they delivered the lines. Saturday night at home with popcorn and lots of alcohol and you can barely get through it. The first two movies were groundbreaking, whereas the only ground this one breaks is the hearts of true fans.
So many plot holes and whoops what's the lamest way we can bring them all together so we can at least finish the film with a rush or maybe a whimper.
And yet it got made and so many people would have been employed. So there is something good in that.
Here Today (2021)
Genius
Billy Crystal was brilliant in Here Today. He wrote, directed and starred in the film. It's the best thing he has ever done. There may have been better scripts and movies, but his acting performance was exceptional. It took me to places that I needed to explore, but didn't want to go. Some stories and performances make you a better person and this was one of them. It took me on a journey of emotions. One minute I was embarrassed by the character. The next I was angry. It was like all parts of me was being torn apart and put back together. Thanks Billy Crystal for allowing me an insight into myself.
Best Sellers (2021)
Two great acting performances
Aubrey Plaza was brilliant. Her acting was the equal of Michael Caine. Her use of her eyes to display emotions was amazing. The film itself was excellent and an easy watch as the two stars played of each other. It was an acting class in itself.
La Brea (2021)
Sharknado had better writing.
The dialogue was on the nose and the exposition was ham fisted. I usually applaud anyone for having the courage to make a TV series or a film, but the first episode made Sharknado look like a drama. Cringeworthy.
The Penitent Man (2010)
Lance Henriksen was Amazing
A Sci Fi made for under 500,000 and yet the script and dialogue is excellent. The performance by Lance Heriksen kept me engaged for entire movie. A thinking person's story.
The Man from Earth: Holocene (2017)
Man returns to earth but not as we know it.
The original man from earth was just that - original. It was the sought of film that would be with you a long time after you left the theatre. Holocene is not that sought of film. It's enjoyable and for those who haven't seen the original it's a nice trippy sought of ride. I enjoyed it as a Sci Fi film but whereas the original was soul food this was more of a sugar rush. A fun way to spend a couple of hours being entertained but nothing more.
Counterpart (2017)
Draws you right in
A great beginning. It is a story that keeps asking questions and the lead actor is brilliant. I love the way that bringing the Howard's together shows what an impact the choices we make effect our lives. All great Science Fiction is really Philosophy in Motion.
Nice to see intelligent Sci Fi getting a run.
