A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (2019)
Decent movie
Audience won't be able to sympathize with him. The story of the film is pretty good. I somewhat like seeing this overly pessimistic character being shown forgiveness and kindness from one of the nicest men on the planet. The film knows how to tug on your heartstrings and give a heartfelt story. Every word out of Tom Hanks' mouth is so impactful and powerful. There is a beautiful scene in the later half of the film where Tom Hanks talks about death. It was incredibly beautiful and powerful to me having had a relative pass away earlier this year. I also really enjoyed the opening 10 minutes. It's shot and looks like a Mister Rogers' episode that introduces the main characters and the main themes of the film which I thought was great.
Band of Brothers (2001)
Great
Despite its 10 hour runtime Band of Brothers is a testament to the amazing feats of heroism people in WWII had to go through.
Planet Earth II (2016)
Monumental
This documentary is monumental. It connects us with animal kind in some of the most breathtaking footage ever shot.
Good Boys (2019)
It's alright
Basically Superbad but with kids and no where near as funny. It did still deliver laughs but after seeing the trailers was expecting there to be many more. Only rated 14A here in Canada and I can understand why, it is very raunchy but there is much worse out there. It is more heartfelt then expected and it has a good balance of heart to laughs. Its a good movie for a quick laugh. Has a short run time but doesn't need to be any longer. If your a fan of Seth Rogan and the stuff he does give this one a shot.
Night Hunter (2018)
mediocre
Mediocre movie at best, the action is all over the place, the pacing feels weird, I hoped for something a little bit better
Overcomer (2019)
Fantastic movie
Fantastic film by the Kendrick Brothers their best yet. I have seen it twice and audiences were cheering, laughing, and crying as this story touches on very important topics. This movie makes you think and is suitable for the entire family, run don't walk to see this film. Don't follow the "Critics" reviews as this family friendly film will of course receive bad reviews from them, read what the audience says.
Angel Has Fallen (2019)
It's something
The Fallen franchise deviates from the previous installments by taking a page from The Fugitive and having Secret Service member Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) framed for treason and having to go on the run to find who set him up. This is a generally entertaining film, but I found that there was a strangely interesting balance of several good and bad aspects.
This was a lot more tonally balanced than the previous two films. Olympus has Fallen was weirdly cynical for a save-the-hostages film. London has Fallen unsuccessfully tried to involve both moral greyness and jingoism not to mention that there were a couple moments where Banning seemed to take a little TOO much pleasure in punishing the enemy. Here, I could mostly just sit back and enjoy myself without questioning anything.
Don't Let Go (2019)
It's frustrating
Don't Let Go is a frustrating film. It has a solid premise and a stable of consistently reliable actors, yet fails to use its seed of an idea to sprout more than a sapling of a film. In the post-show discussion of the six citizens of City of Geek present - the standard four of us and two friends - we came up with several far more interesting ways to use the set-up than the film itself did. That's why we found the Jacob Aaron Estes written and directed sci-fi/horror/thriller to be so frustrating. Don't Let Go doesn't allow itself to dig into a great idea in any sort of more-than-basic way.
The Mentalist (2008)
Loved the series
This is a great series. It features regular detective work like in most TV shows similar to this one, but this show has a great background story that slowly evolves throughout the seasons. It's suspenseful and has a worthwhile ending.
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019)
Great movie
The movie was really good and impressed me and everyone else in the crowded theater i saw it in. Critics who saw it privately and were just trying to impress someone with their cut-throat review of a book written for teenagers that turned movie didn't get it. Go see this movie for yourself and i am sure you will be spooked and enjoy your time at the theater.
12 Angry Men (1957)
Superb
Great movie, it makes you think mire than any ither movie.
