|Description:||The Path is a new multimedia walking tour that interprets the history and meaning of Lawrence, Massachusetts. Signs installed at various locations throughout the City direct viewers to TourLawrence.org where videos can be streamed to a home computer or mobile device. The Path weaves information about each of the four locations into a larger, personal narrative about an historic event that took place in the City. |
This film/tour is about a disaster of epic proportions that occurred in Lawrence 150 years ago. Minutes before closing on January 10, 1860, the Pemberton Mill collapsed with 600 workers inside, marking a turning point in the Citys history. View the Path videos and see how this event effected both the people and the City of Lawrence forever.
Follow a present day immigrant girl who grew up in Lawrence as she leads the audience throughout the City, and connects us to two immigrant girls who were caught up in the disaster in 1860. Using historical documents, interviews with historians, and an ancestor of the Hannon sisters, The Path weaves an historical narrative that is at once personal while providing a global perspective on the industrial revolution and the trials and tribulations that immigrants face upon arrival in the United States.
