Reunion
This beautiful and inspirational film tells the original true story of 'The Gold and Ivory Tablecloth' which first appeared in the Reader's Digest in the 1950's. A moving story of a Pastor (Kevin Michaels played by Paul Wiedecker) and his wife (Alice, played by Connie Lamothe) who relocate to a new church only to find it in need of much repair. With a goal of a opening first Sunday service for Easter, everything is coming together nicely with the help of church member Carl Mason (played by Kevin Troy) until a horrendous storm rolls through and destroys much of the work that has been done. The Pastor visits a flea market and picks up an antique tablecloth with the thought of using it to cover the altar damage from the storm. With new hope and faith in God, the Pastor and his wife prepare for the opening Easter Service. When Elke Gerhardt (played by Maria Callier) finds herself sitting in the church parking lot with car trouble, the Pastor discovers her sitting in the cold and invites her to sit in the warmth of the church. After a moment of friendly conversation, the woman discovers the cloth, her handmade tablecloth from 30 years earlier when she and her husband Fritz Gerhardt (played by Brian St.August) were separated in the act of fleeing Communism in East Germany in the 1970's. She recounts the tearful and frightening events that lead to a reunion, 30 plus years in the making!
