Keeping Up with the Joneses (2016)
Funny and far out plot and it's a sexy tease.
"Keeping Up with the Joneses" is one fun and funny feel comedy drama that seems a little unreal still it entertains! Set in Atlanta, Georgia in an area that's nice a suburban couple Jeff(Zach Galifianakis)and Karen(Isla Fisher)seem to have the perfect life then all of a sudden their life is turned upside down by a new couple who move in next door named Tim Jones(Jon Hamm)and Natalie(Gal Gadot). Soon strange things start to happen and it's seems odd, but soon it appears that an international spy plot might be going on! Aside from that this film is funny and full of good one liners and sexy scenes especially the one of Gal Gadot in the try on room with all of those sexy colored bras, and Tim and Natalie even tie up and duct tape the mouth's of Karen and Jeff's neighbors. Really a wild and crazy type of a film, probably not everyone's cup of tea still it's worth a watch due to it's laughs and sexy scenes a tease with two beautiful ladies in Gal Gadot and Isla Fisher, so if your looking for a carefree feel good time then give this movie a watch.
Fun and a sexy camp tease that has adventure with eye candy beauty!
I remember years ago watching this series called "V.I.P." with Pamela Anderson as she's such an eye candy treat from her "Playboy" and "Baywatch" days. This was a series that didn't take things to serious it had it's fun and the acting was a little silly yet, the stories often involved adventures of crime solving and a little action on the side and yes of course some eye candy. Pamela Anderson lead the way as Vallery Irons a bodyguard and security type for the rich and famous and her group of girls included Tasha(Molly Culver)it was like a nice little detective agency. I recall many segments in which the girls including Pamela would be damsels in distress as they were tied up and gagged and many scenes were sexy with the gals sporting sexy colored bras, still thru it all these ladies saved the day from the bad guys! This little series had it's day in syndication and in reruns on UPN, CW or WB it was one fun remembered series for the action and eye candy with Pamela Anderson.
American Honey (2016)
A film that explores a road life of choices, and a fun journey of finding one's self with open freedom.
"American Honey" is one film as you watch you get memories back of "Easy Rider" as both are clearly a road journey of discovery and freedom, only with this picture which is too moved along by the music and songs played during it looks at it from the female perspective as the central character is that of a young teenage girl. Set in the south a young southern girl named Star(newcomer Sasha Lane)is currently living a life with a man and some young kids and it's clear she needs a new start and escape from this redneck and trailer park trash way of life. So after she decides to head out with a traveling group of young boys and girls(who sale magazines as a group) her life on the road becomes wide open and full of soul searching and discovery of herself and others.
The film is nearly three hours long so it's clearly an in depth journey as the group travels across the south and west, Star enjoys a lot more than selling magazines she becomes a fan of some hard partying and even sees a side of law breaking on the trip of stops. Star also is taken under the wing by Jake(Shia LaBeouf)a leader of the group type who enjoys having raw and lust type outdoor sex with Star. Thru all of the adventures and side subplots Star(who sports a sexy pink bra)who's sexy in a raw type manner learns a lot about herself and life by seeing different people as on the open road it proves that life is a journey just as on any trip discovery is found as it is often is in life too. Clearly this movie is a film of finding open freedom and discovery finding one's self thru journey and travel as that's what Star did she saw life thru people and the road as a journey that opens up new discovery. "American Honey" is clearly one movie to watch for a feel good journey time of freedom and escape as life intersects with travel for a revealing of discovery and happiness.
American Pastoral (2016)
A film that challenges authority, a stand up against the norm a different expression of freedom.
Most can remember the 1960's as it was a time of uncertain and many felt unjust for the way of the Vietnam war, and the 1960's was also a time of stand up and rebellion at home as many would protest the war and go against the grain. This new movie "American Pastoral" directed by Ewan McGregor captures much of that just fine, as this was based on real life happenings and was also developed from an actual novel. Anyway the story is all American as it's set in 1960's in the New Jersey suburbs as Seymour 'Swede'(Ewan McGregor)is an everything you have it guy as after his days as an all star athlete 'Swede' has settled into a life of success from hard work and he's married to a former New Jersey beauty queen in Dawn(Jennifer Connelly). Despite all of the typical structure of the norm his little loving daughter Merry(Dakota Fanning)has a stutter and speech problem, however more than meets the voice and eye is about to happen with Merry. As growing older having seen the terror and gruesome images of war on TV it deeply affects a young Merry in a deep and passionate go against the standard type of a way.
Soon Merry drifts more and more away from her parents she like others joins a class of newly formed radical political groups that's message is peace and it's a collection of protest against the yes man types. After a local bombing occurs the film takes more of a twist it's clearly a new path and direction for Merry. Thru it all this story shows how 'Swede' handled and endured an emotional pull rebellion challenge from his only sweet loving daughter Merry. Really this film is touching and gripping as it shows it was okay to stand up and differ during a time of uncertain and it proves that freedom can be expressed in different forms and different manners. "American Pastoral" is one stand up film of courage proving that expression of freedom and peace can be done in a different manner.
This Is Us (2016)
Heartfelt and emotional touching series that proves life and people are connected.
"This Is US" is by far the best new series on network TV as NBC has found a family drama that's a winner as this is filled with emotion and drama love, loss, regret, and search for happiness. This series is told a lot thru flashback to show how it made the present anyway it involves a couple Jack(Milo Ventimiglia)and Rebecca(Mandy Moore)who have triplets all on the same day with only two of them to survive and that's Kevin(Justin Hartley)and Kate(Chrissy Metz)who then become a sibling to the adopted son Randall(Sterling Brown). Now all of the kids are grown searching and trying to find their own way of life as Kevin is a want to be actor and Kate is an overweight mess and unhappy yet, she starts a "Mike and Molly" type relationship with Toby(Chris Sullivan). Now with Randall(Sterling Brown) he's successful and he finally finds his real life father who's dying with terminal cancer and this brings plenty of drama and conflict with his hard loving wife(Susan Kelechi Watson)as she feels Randall has to much of a big heart. Thru it all this family shares emotion and love thru the struggles of life and time as the viewer can see it's all connected to the bonding they had at birth and the flashbacks show how the trio was molded by Jack and Rebecca. Really this series is warm and touching it shows how change and life develops and it proves that love and connections last.
Blunt, brash, outspoken, and a take on race, class, gender, and culture all while having experiences of life and relationships!
HBO's new series "Insecure" is funny and the script has a sharp tone and it's mouth is witty and brash and all of this comes out just fine from Issa Rae(a "You Tube" and web star)who makes this series work just fine. It involves the life and times of one Issa Dee as a modern black woman in California who's a school teacher and she's just trying to figure it all out with the world of life, love, and relationship. All while this is going on Issa sees how her world and others is always connected with race, gender, and culture, and the experiences are almost always racy and very blunt. Aside from Issa being a sexy colored bra wearing black female she's brash and to bold with her outspoken mouth, yet her best friend the elegant and upscale Molly(Yvonne Orji)tries to keep her on the straight and narrow road of life. Overall this series may not be everyone's cup of tea, as it's a brash, blunt, racy take on the life of a single black lady still it entertains in a fun and modern outspoken sexy way that will win with many viewers.
It's not "Sex and the City" still it shows the ups and downs of life, love, relationships and family.
Most all remember the glory days of Sarah Jessica Parker and "Sex and the City" when she was a young single lady who was free spirited and slept around a lot while having fun with her girl pals. Well enter now it's a different side of Sarah with this new HBO series called "Divorce" as Jessica Parker plays Frances a grown up lady who's married with kids and you guessed it all of a sudden she wants a change she tells her strong and hard working husband Robert(Thomas Haden Church)that she wants a divorce! What was it boredom, lack of sex, the want and need for a new start, or just a change of life. Anyway those questions will try to be answered in this long drawn out divorce, it's clear that Frances and Robert are a clear example of a couple who showcase the ups and downs of life. As Frances has already had an affair with another guy, so just maybe Robert wasn't up to par in bed? Or is it just a woman's world to change her world, mind, and life all at once. The series is supported just fine by Frances's best friend the neurotic Diane(Molly Shannon)who's another unhappy married woman. This series showcases a lot of questions and it will try it's best to answer them still it's proves that life, family, love and most of all marriage is complex.
Shin Gojira (2016)
Fun and neat like parody and want to be adventure, yet nothing like the classic one's.
I for one was a Godzilla fan and I like anything that takes place in the orient especially the country of Japan. This movie called "Shin Godzilla" is one modern day tale of adventure and battle of an entire country getting ready to face the big giant green monster. This film tries to be serious yet it seems more fun and parody, it's nothing like the classic "Godzilla" films still it's worth a look I guess for today's generation, as the action is more high tech and computer made as it seems nothing like the classic fight sequences of the old movies. The story is pretty simple set in Japan near the Tokyo Bay it is told that a giant monster is ready to strike the sea and the entire country and therefore an emergency cabinet meeting is called with all Japan officials. Overall nothing great still this film entertains in a unique and fun way of new modern action.
The old west meets a future world want to be thru fantasy and dreams, with themes of lust, greed, and escape!
I for one never watched the 1973 movie "Westworld" yet when HBO announced this new original series I knew that it would be cutting edge and worth a look, so I've checked it out. So far the series is a little confusing and really far out with make believe it's like a parody of fantasy land all built on dreams and escape. At a time when characters in the old west are all living a life of the typical of guns, outlaws, sex, and greed each hope for a better place and a better way. As thru dreams it's made possible when each arrives as a new person in a world of the future a theme park type place ran by robots called "Westworld" and this new universe has much of the same only it's a little better and more of it! It's like an escape to a new life something that's bigger and better. And the series is moved along just fine by all pro cast work from Anthony Hopkins, Jeffrey Wright, Ed Harris, and Evan Rachel Wood. Overall an all right series that's a little hard to follow as it's a showcase of new life and new identity thru dreams and fantasy.
The Exorcist (2016)
Not the 1973 classic original still has enough of a story and cast that's with fright, fear and scary!
Like most horror fans and film buffs always loved 1973's "The Exorcist" and saw it many times, so sure I had to check out this new FOX series called the same title, and true it's not like the movie still it has many themes and it's story is a feel good fright of terror and the scenes try to bring terror and fright! Set in Chicago the series involves the typical demonic possessions, and involves the world of spirits and crazy religious happenings and strange cult murders. Most of the plot involves around a young father Tomas(Alfonso Herrera) who rolls into town to try and save a families young daughter who's bedeviled and Geena Davis gives a strong performance as the mother and leader of her family. This series will have you thinking about the world as you see that evil is present and alive and working it's not a masterpiece still it's a Friday night fright and chill thrill.
