Sex and the City 2 (2010)
What a waste!
Well as many other fans of the show I thought I could ignore the poor reviews and go and give this film a chance. Should have listened to the critics! Where to start, the gay wedding, Carries crown, and Liza made me cringe in my seat- it was OTT even for this show.
The problems with Big and Carrie were hyped and then ignored, seriously why have Aiden in it at all?! The girls in the middle east were disrespectful to an entire culture- I thought for a minute they were trying to highlight the issue of women in some of these cultures, alas they merely mocked and ridiculed them, (Miranda had shown hope but in the end was as bad as the other three).
I did laugh at some parts, however most of it was aimed at the actors for allowing this film to go ahead after fighting so hard to have a worthy first film as they didn't want to disappoint the fans. The producers, director and writers should be ashamed that this was pushed just to make more money rather than give a plot, and something for the fans to love.
Overall it was too long, too full of celebrities just trying to show they were cool by making a cameo, strange clothing choices even for Carrie, and no point in my mind whatsoever.
Lets just pretend this film wasn't made and that our journey with the girls ended with Carrie and Big getting married at the end of the first film, that is what I'm going to do anyway.
Witchfinder General (1968)
Poor inaccurate waste of time.
Fair enough its a film, its also based on a 'novel' (a pretty bad one at that) but this film sucks beyond all belief. The sad thing is that people actually feel that it holds some truth as it is based on a historical figure. The only thing that this film got right were some of the names! Everything is completely false, its a poor excuse of a 'horror' using a genuine period of history and using it to misrepresent the story of John Lowes and the period of the witch finders! Even just looking at the film, without historical facts it is obviously a bad film, the acting is terrible even for the late 1960's and is just a cringe worthy attempt at 'telling the story'. Since when was Hopkins an old man? Vincent Price was far too old to play a mid twenties gentleman.
The main aim of this film was to show a bit of flesh and sex up a pretty gruesome part of English history, even doing that it failed.
Really wouldn't recommend this film unless you have to study it or fancy a real laugh.
