The Ron Clark Story (2006)
This was a very pleasant surprise for me over the Christmas break even at the time it was screened at 06.00 am, lucky I got up early! Rarely am I so taken with a film such as this, but obviously the story line really got me, as did the excellent acting by all the cast, the kids were just great, and utterly convincing.
I was also pleased to discover the film was based on fact, and I was pleased that these rebel children went on to greater things, would not the world be a much better place if there were More Mr Clark's around? Not just in teaching but in all walks of life, especially in politics and industry.
Honesty is in very short supply these days, now I am rambling so will pack in, surely my ten lines are complete?
My Girl (1991)
This bought a big lump to my throat!
It is not often a film touches me like this one, but this really got me.
It is an absolute gem of a picture with perfect casting and perfect acting, very near faultless, in fact it is faultless.
Now I have said all I feel I need to I have to try and get ten lines in, so, Line 4 Line 5 Line 6 Line 7 Line 8 Line 9 Line 10.
Even then it will not get sent so.
More lines lines lines lines, how come other reviews do not seem to have so many lines?
I am getting fed up with typing this!
Are we finished yet?
Can I send it now?
Diamonds Are Forever (1971)
I watched this yesterday, ITV are running some Bonds right now and I had "enjoyed" those shown like Thunderball & You Only Live Twice, strange though in this one Charles Gray was Henderson, on the screen for about 10 seconds before getting a knife in him. Now he turns up in this as Blofeld or is it Blofield, who cares.
The whole thing was a shambolic effort just to prove Bond films had run out of gas way back then.
This should have been the last one.
Not enough lines again, how many lines does one need to say the film was a waste of time and money, shall I write more lines, and keep writing lines, why do you need ten lines, is this ten lines now?
Despite the reviews to the contrary I thought the film superb. It did capture very well the atmosphere of the time, when Britain emerged from monochrome into colour during the late 50's and early 60's. I know because I was there! The portrayal of The Beatles was incredible, why can I ask have these actors not gone on to better things? The capturing of Lennons early years was a masterpiece, in fact the actor should have gotten some kind of award, that is how Lennon was, a very talented rebel, who helped change the world, and would perhaps have made it a lot better place if that lunatic had not killed him.
I am trying to complete my ten lines but is does get difficult when has said all one wants to say, is that enough yet??
The Password Is Courage (1962)
A good story totally let down by the cheap way it was made, surely one could have afforded a trip into France or Belgium to film it. The locations are so obviously British it is embarrassing, the scene at the cottage for example with a real English door knocker, and the train which is a LMR class 8f if my memory is correct.
Obviously nothing can be done about this but remake what could, and should have been a damn good film!
I have not used enough lines it seems I need ten, but there is nothing else to say except why cant I say all that needs to be said in less than ten lines, and stop my fingers hurting by typing more than I need to etc, etc, is that enough now please?
Still some more lines to write so I am told I wonder why I bothered in the first place.
Just checked out Charles Coward who was portrayed by Bogarde in the film, which goes to prove this should have been a blockbuster not a B movie. I suggest a remake as this man did far more than the original film depicts, so yes the 1962 version is total absolute unadulterated rubbish!
A good idea, let down by awful acting, and the wrong cast. There are so many silly things in this movie it is hard to know where to start, at the beginning I assume?
Sly Stallone is always in a Persil White vest which is wrinkle free, I did not realise that there was that standard of laundry in a POW camp! Plus the fact he maintained his muscle, obviously the Krauts provided supplements as well.
Michael Cain is to fat to be convincing as an ex pro also obviously benefiting from German food.
I noticed in the crowd scene at the game some character in a RAF uniform with pilot officer rank who must have been 70 if he was a day, wartime it was but even then you went at 55.
And to cap it all in the final invade the pitch scene I saw a shell suit. I could go on but what is the point it was a good idea well spoilt.
A Real Shocker
I will try to get to 10 lines but cant see how I can keep typing the words dreadful, obscene etc.
In my opinion this is without doubt one of the worst films ever made, it is vile, its is puerile, it is disgusting and I only watched the first half hour, that was enough to have me in a state of life threatening nausea.
Is that 10 lines yet? Why this was made is a mystery, why it was ever released is a major concern.
I am certain that some people of a mentally retarded predicament would appreciate it but even then.
Inane, ridiculous, unfunny, childish, rotten, hackneyed, half the plot borrowed from the excellent film BIG, ban it.
