Pretty Darn Good, Considering
6 October 2006
When I first saw the ad for this, I was like 'Oh here we go. He's done High School Musical, but he can't coast along on that so now he's making appearances on other Disney shows'. Personally, I love The Suite Life and I'm a big fan of Ashely Tisdale. But for some reason, I'm not too keen on Zac Efron, although all my friends think he's the best thing since Jesse McCartney. But he really annoys me. Anyway, I watched the show (taking a break from English coursework) and was pleasantly surprised. The performances were good all round, especially from the regular characters on The Suite Life, and Zac Efron wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. All in all, a pretty good show.

Better than Expected
24 August 2006
From the reviews that I read of this movie before seeing it, I entered the cinema with a feeling of dread. I mean, it was the gardener from DH, Ashanti, Chad Michael Murray's ex-wife and two girls I'd never heard of. I wasn't expecting much. But I found the film highly enjoyable and surprisingly, much better than I'd been expecting. A lot of the things the girls did were very mean and personally, I don't think half of it would have worked. But as a teenage girl who has recently been cheated on by my boyfriend of eight months, it was a lot of fun. Whenever the action got a little slow, I substituted John Tucker for my cheating ex, and the film brightened up a lot.

Not Perfect, But Not Too Bad As Far As Movies Go
1 June 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I am admittedly one of Hilary Duff's biggest fans, and even though this film was just your average girlie rom-com (full of predictable twists and cheesy one-liners), I really enjoyed it. This movie wasn't altogether what you'd necessarily expect from a movie starring a teen singer/actress: the heroine didn't spend the whole time prancing around in a micro-mini skirt and low-cut top in order to get the guy. Hilary Duff's character, Holly, gets a guy to fall madly in love with her just by being herself. I think this sends out a pretty good message to girls everywhere, instructing them that you don't have to act like a bimbo to get someone to like you: just be you. However, the main element that makes up the storyline is a girl telling a whole bunch of lies to her mother. This does not send out a good message to impressionable young girls. So all in all, I'd say this film is good for a laugh. I'm sure a lot of kids will enjoy it. But it's not going to get nominated for any awards, or go down in movie history as one of the 'classics'.
