Saw III (2006)
Saw III: No Plot But Plenty Of Gore
I am not a fan of scary movies. I know it is not real yet I cannot avoid my unforgiving vivid imagination. So obviously I surprised myself when Saw I became one of my favorite movies. Then, I saw it only fitting to see Saw II, which was not bad but it was no Saw I.
Saw III, to me, seems miles away from Saw I's captivating storyline and appropriate violence. Saw III was gratuitous with its torture scenes and inhumane treatment; it is, by far, the goriest movie in the trilogy. There are no new and surprising turns in Saw III. It is simply 108 minutes of superfluous violence and torture. It never stops. There is hardly a moment to rest in between each bloody sequence.
If you like seeing blood gush, flesh rip and bones break then here is your new favorite flick. If you are not a fan of torture films, RUN! If you are at all squeamish, then this is not the movie for you. I watched this movie with my current boyfriend, who had never before even winced during the other horror films we have watched (Texas Chainsaw: The Beginning, Silent Hill, The Omen). However, the Saw III scene that involves an up close and personal brain surgery (drilling open the skull and all) had him squirming.
Five minutes into this movie I was already drained. I will admit to having spent the majority of the 108 minutes hiding behind a blanket, shielding myself from Jigsaw's cruel, cruel mind. The final scene is less than brilliant but leaves everyone wondering: will there be a Saw IV?
You cannot say you have not been warned.
