One of the best plat formers of all time.
I didn't know that games this old would be on IMDb so when I saw this I felt compelled to write something because this game's one of my all time favorites.
The game has a good story with in-depth dialogue and a compelling plot. A man wakes up in a mysterious area of jungle on an unknown planet after a few tasks and meeting a few friends he discovers his name is Conrad and that he was on the cusp of discovering a huge alien cover up, so you spend the next part of the game doing missions earning money taking a trip to earth going to the alien planet and fighting a variety of enemy's such as mutants, cops, robots and aliens.
The physics of this game have always looked good when you run Conrad's jacket blows in the wind, jumps/hang drops & climb ups look really realistic for a 2D game. The fun really begins when you get the transporter you can throw it form one spot and appear where it lands.
The game is flawed in many ways the main one being trap areas, good examples of this would be small robots that roam across the floor and shock you some times they get you into an area where there is no way you can get back out without dieing or loosing half your life the problem is you have to have the equivalent of four feet between you and the robot before you can kill it But if anyone knows of a perfect game let me know.
The Thing (1982)
Good one for Halloween.
It's nearly Halloween and if your thinking of a movie compilation this should be the top of your list.
It centers around a group working at a research outpost in the Antarctic, one day there's an attack on the outpost from another research team upon venturing to the other base that housed the team they discover the outpost was destroyed by an organism that can mimic any living creature.
When they return to the outpost they shorty discover the organism has infected the base and they can't tell who isn't what they say they are. This is where this films real horror lies the people who you think you can trust i.e. your friends are the people who try and rip your throat out so the enemy becomes your sense of trust.
The special effects are amazing I recently was able to see a digital presentation of The Thing at the cinema and it looked awesome, usually when you watch this film because its shot against white you get glare on your screen very easily, in the cinema the lighting is set perfectly to prevent glare it really does look a lot better I recommend seeing it on the big screen for anyone.
Day of the Dead (2008)
Don't choke on it just spit it out.
A few points to start off. It's Poorly made, has terrible actors, and the plot is virtually nonexistent witch leads to a huge exposition scene at the end.
Now lets talk zombies. The zombies are capable of advanced acrobatics at one point one seems to jump a clear four feet to catch hold of a ventilation cover (there's someone on the other side crawling inside the vent.) While on the subject of the zombies something that actually had me laughing on the floor of my room was a transformation sequence in witch a man in a hospital bed instantaneously turns into a zombie his face rots and his eyes glaze over in about three seconds and before you know it he's eating his wife.
So amongst the vegetarian zombies(No seriously) The zombie out of the Matrix that dodges bullets in a corridor with four people firing at him and the fact that every zombie runs and fires weapons you have no fear of confusing this with the Romero classic, witch is probably the only good thing you can give this film.
Up points. Nice special effects that is literally all I can think of and they are no where near as good as Tom Savini's. I suppose the disk makes for a good coaster if you can't find somewhere to set your drink down, The two out of ten I've given it is extremely generous.
