Butterfly on a Wheel (2007)
Not bad for an average movie
The movie obviously is not for the connoisseur. It is an average suspense thriller which actually manages to keep a tinge of suspense till the end, though the plot is quite predictable. Many loopholes and errors in plot and logic exist but are not conspicuous. So if you forget and/or forgive all that, or just don't care then the movie is watchable.
It is one of those movies which is neither totally disappointing nor too good, for me it falls between not good and satisfactory. Everything about the movie is average, be it the acting, writing, direction, cinematography, editing or just anything in the movie.
AVERAGE flick all the way.
These are what you call the OKAY movies.....
Das Leben der Anderen (2006)
Just words are not enough to glorify this masterpiece
A stupendous debut offering by the director, this movie will move you deeply, chunrning out one intense scene after another with immaculate precision be it in the writing, directing, acting, cinematography, lighting, score.... you name it.
An absolutely spell binding performance by Ulrich Muhe as a Stasi officer, his timing, his subtlety, his presence will just make you cry and yearn for more. He is probably worth a lifetime achievement award for his performance in this movie alone.
An equally terrific performance by Martina Gedeck who is in the epicenter of the whole drama. Portraying a pivotal character in the movie she is in a class of her own in some of the most intense moments of the movie. The movie also has great performances all around by various other actors.
All in all the movie asks the right questions and for the most part finds the right answers. In the process we are driven through the emotional turmoils of the different characters in the face of the conditions that prevailed in East Germany in the 80s before the fall of the Berlin Wall.
A treat to your senses and beyond.....what more can be said?
The Punisher (2004)
I happened to go to Blckbuster to pick up an action flick, and the cover on the DVD of this movie instigated me into renting it.
Full points for the people behind the marketing of the movie, to bring up such an interesting cover.
The movie just makes you feel that you are unintelligent(please note euphemism used), who just gets carried away by gun shots, bomb blasts, macho men, banal comedy and drama but of course shown BOMBastically.
Well I would say I wss deceived into watching this movie because of the cover.
The movie is NON STOP NON SENSE punishing you with every scene, irritating your brain cells responsible for logical reasoning, so thats why the movie is aptly named THE PUNISHER.
