The Indian Doctor: Into the Light (2013)
End of the line
As we know with hindsight, this is the final episode but it was left open for another series but I feel this had gone on for a series too many.
The series ends pretty much the same a previous ones but I did keep expecting that someone would walk through the pub food to make it a happy ending for one young character.
Some light (typically Welsh) humour and a reference to England winning the world cup gives a wry smile.
Everything rounds off well as you would expect from an experienced soap opera writer in Rob Fittings which gives the show a nod to the long running series Heartbeat.
Such a shame a quality cast weren't given a stronger drama to get their teeth into but, by this ending, Hinterland and Unforgotten were able to flourish.
Great nostalgia and a a fair insight into the Welsh culture.
The fact that most of the characters would have spoken their native tongue somewhat more is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.
The Indian Doctor: Trapped (2013)
The pits
This series is dragging now.
I assume the cast left from the word go were waiting for Hinterland to start so they could make a name for a few of them.
The humour is limited, the storyline is frail and obvious and the music is only played in short bursts.
Hopefully the next episode can wrap up the series successfully.
The Indian Doctor: Desperate Measures (2013)
Pitfalls
Plenty of nostalgia and kitchen sink drama with devious plots all around and then there is trouble at the pit.
A good 7. Great for daytime TV but not as good as the previous series.
The Indian Doctor: The Gold Rush (2013)
A pregnant pause
Sadly, not such a strong episode this one. The music and the look are good but the drama is lacking but a bit more comedy.
The show is starting to look a bit tired though.
The Indian Doctor: The Prodigals' Return (2013)
New town for a new aeries
It is a couple of years since the last series and there is a different feel to this one (like the tricky third album musicians claim to endure) with some cast members leaving and new ones arriving - even the singing of the Welsh anthem seems to be rather subdued compared the many Welsh cultural occasions I have been to.
Hoping this isn't going to be a series too far.
Ashes to Ashes: Episode #2.4 (2009)
Everyone's Got To Learn Sometime
Just when you think the show has stood on its own two feet then things come back from Life On Mars to remind you it is a spin off series but a very good one at that.
A great storyline, humour and music again.
It would make a great cop series without need for the sci-fi element.
Is Gene changing his ways?
Ashes to Ashes: Episode #2.3 (2009)
The milk tray man
A bit disappointing after the good quality of late. A good twist in the tale and the odd good tune from the era.
