The Office (2005)
Believe the hype this original metaphor of office life rocks!
OK, everyone has an opinion on the show, if they have seen it or not. What everyone has to remember is the original office was a cult classic, but many (who never watched the programme originally) jumped on the band wagon of its success and have now slammed the American version. Note to critics- This show was made with the constant input of Ricky gervais and Stephen merchant, if you don't find this funny, you're obviously not a fan of the original series.
America is different to Britain, thus the comedy element needs to be different. The American version is louder, more in your face comedy where as the British version is more subtle. There is one simple reason, the audience. The American versions hilarious, and if you stop comparing every tiny detail to the Ukversion, you can see its potential. It's cringe-worthiness is what makes the office special. Yoyu are supposed to cringe at the sheer stupidness and ego of Michael (David in the UK) Jim (Tim) is supposed to be a prankster and Dwight an idiot, albeit in the American version i found myself feeling sorry for Dwight, in the UK version Gareth deserves all he gets! The office an American workplace has to be viewed in its own right. Yes, it is very similar to the original, it is supposed to be. Gervais wanted to keep the same ideas but has to change things for a new audience. This show is excellent, a funny humiliating comedy with the brilliant Steve carell. miss at your peril

The Fog (2005)
Fall out Boy saves The Fog
Oh my god. Seriously, those 3 words are the basic round up of a god- awful movie and cast. Nothing about this embarrassing effort is remotely scary, and the story line seems to have a mind of it's own. Seriously, killer fog? You really expect audiences to be genuinely scared from your $49 smoke machines? Geez, were you wrong! Actually, I was pretty excited about this movie. I went to see it in Orlando FL and anticipated a good scare. It was the build up before I found the courage to go see Saw 2, and what a disappointment! However, if you are interested in a total comical farce of a movie, this is it! The whole theatre was in stitches, I mean people were clapping as they left, but i suppose it was claps of Yes! it's over, rather than, "What a life changing movie!" Honestly, What happened to Selma Blair? She was so promising in Cruel Intentions... career in downhill nose dive I think.
However, the soundtrack saved the movie, Fall Out Boy was the highlight of that one night that I will bitterly never regain. Those 2 hours could have been spent so much better, if only i'd known.........
