Andor (2022– )
start slow and boring but gets better for real
27 December 2022
Im human and not a bot nor paid to say it. It took ke a week to finish the first 3 episodes cause i kept falling asleep. I disliked and didnt care for any character and was wondering where all this mess was going but as the episodes go on the show picks up pace and becomes quite exciting at times. Being a show made for streaming platforms it tries to appeal to every demographic so there are countless useless subplots about stuff like romance and characters of non caucasian ethnicities and sexual orientantions. Makes you wonder if they get paid to keep bombarding us with that stuff. The finale has some good moments but falls a bit flat. A 0art2 should come out next year so there s that.

romance, deus ex machina, anime tropes, dozens of mass scales battle
9 September 2022
Too long, too many characters, not enough depth to them, way too many battles with thousands of soldiers and plot "twists". Grancrest senki is as dull and forgettable as they come.

It plays too much as a videogame that intertwines dating sim and rts troop management, its biggest shortcoming isnt the weak plot but the lack of agency of its overly extended cast which seem to default to being the embodiment of a primary directive as the core of their identify.

There are more clashes between armies and fanservice than most can stomach. The only interesting part of the plot is the fight to keep society back to avoid technological progress and the use of nuclear weapons to destroy the world again. There is a big catch though, it is mentioned for two minutes toward the end and just as motivation for the antagonist faction. It is not the worst thing ever but it makes me question the usefulness of score averages seeing reviews praise this lint as a 10 out of 10 masterpiece.

Kokkoku (2018)
pretty good
6 September 2022
The characters are not flat caricatures of tropes, the plot is rather intriguing albeit a much weaker third act, visually it is not great nor terrible and the intro is a banger. Approved.

100 girls 1 guy
31 August 2022
An insult to sentient life.

Harem, cute(?) girls, swords and big robot fights.

A prepubuscent boy's wet dream.

If somebody asked me to list everything wrong with japanese animation i would show them this Seems a generic anime style product generated by an ai.

If you are 14 and unsatisfied with your life you will love this.

My actual review is already over but there are minimum character requirements so now I will waste some time talking about what could have been good about this show, in a nutshell the dragon lore themed robots could have been pretty cool and should have been the centerpieces of the show instead of the degenerate sexual power fantasy. The character art is not horrible to look at but the animation in action scenes tends to scream lowbbudget. Kids should not be exposed to fetishizations like this. The theme songs are about as forgettable as the rest.

Deaimon (2022)
all plot threads go nowhere
21 August 2022
Bit of everything pleases nobody. Traditional japanese confectionary art interesting. Feels like a light novel trying to never end.

Too many anime tropes and not enough genuine plot, too episodic in nature. Mid tier.

generic shounen with football backdrop
16 August 2022
Shounen anime tropes and archetypes. Shallow football understanding. High stakes and drama over everything. Pure generic garbage pandering to middle schoolers.

Father Stu (2022)
bit crass but grows on you
8 June 2022
The dialogue is often overly corny and it is boring to watch, especially the first two arcs. Could have not watched it without 2x playback speed most likely. But oddly by the end of the movie i found myself caring about the characters and appreciating the message despite not being that religious myself. It is a wholehearted story of suffering and redemption with no sugarcoating whatsoever.

Tethered (II) (2022)
remake of a short
20 March 2022
It is artsy and pretty to look at but nothing happens in the plot. The first 40 minutes could have been condensed into a 10 minutes flashback. The ending was pointless and confusing. The whole thing is too cliché.

Good-ish visuals, boring story
3 March 2022
For a six episodes show i would have not expected for literally more than half the runtime to be dedicated to the usual anime tropes such as cute girl constantly streaming on twitch trying to be hip. I cant even hate this, it was just boring and nothing happened and the characters were not fleshed out. I usually wait to watch the whole show before reviewing but i have to watch the last episode yet but i am not sure i will.

Jab to other reviewers: if you really think people cant enjoy this cause they are dumb and adrenaline junkies you really need to get out, get some fresh air and touch grass.

Could have been a better story if it cut down the cast in half and fleshed out more the protagonists, not every piece of media has to cater to every different demographic.

Super Crooks (2021)
A love letter to american heist movies from japan
17 February 2022
Super heroes, anime and heist tropes. Episode 1 is a great feat of story telling and expectation subversion. The rest of the show is rather trivial and mundane in comparison. There is no way to tell heist stories anymore, as a genere it was explored too much and you cant change that no matter how unreliable the narrator gets or how many counter plot twist you shoe horn in. Overall a fine watch with uncommon aesthetic and an overabundance of gore. Super Crooks: the heist movie in a superhero world.

Not as good as Tiger King
11 December 2021
It blatantly tries to capitalize on the popularity of the original show but fails to replicate the recipe for its success. It is mostly interviews to people about stuff that happened between the 70s and 90s, it is not that interesting and it is bottom of the barrel journalism. We get it, most likely doc antle is a piece of crap for a plethora of reasons and he did many a-bad things but do we need to listen to him for 10 seconds and then have 20 minutes of emotional manipulation from witness that are talking for fame and a wad of bills? I dont think that is a great deal.

Important to mention the plot is not focused on the animals, it mostly focuses on doc antle's ex entourage, cults and sex.

Make me yours Jimmy Pesto
27 January 2021
At the end of the episode i realized mister goulding was played by Dan Mintz, whom i recognized by his voice as tina belcher from bob's burger and almost had a stroke. A good episode if it wasnt for the usual side plots to satisfy all target demographics

The Simpsons: The Dad-Feelings Limited (2021)
Season 32, Episode 11
good but not the simpsons
6 January 2021
The episode has something the show has been lacking... good writing. The story works pretty smoothly and the comic book's guy backstory/origin is interesting but the main cast plays a marginal role and some characters break character... the voice acting seems more lazy as if they just quickly read the lines without nuance to get it over with asap (mostly bart/lisa/marge) i hope im wrong

Legion (2017–2019)
No masterpiece, pretty mediocre and going downhill
28 October 2020
Legion has a somewhat constant surreal vibe, you get long interludes( too often almost the entirety of the episode) of great visuals and mind/oniric sequences. Despite that the rest of the time it looks incredibly cheap and the soap opera writing comes off strong. Every season gets worse than the previous and if by half of the first season we have some established characters with an agenda of their own, by the end of the third season everybody gets reduced a caricature of their self, you might say they get flanderized, and one small detail becomes the core of their identity or their actions. That is until the plot makes somebody behave erratically for the sake of manifacturing drama. The show is not well written, it goes for the weak tv writing that teases the viewer initially with overarching plots and then just makes the characters spinning in circles like headless chickens with the arrogance of somebody who thinks you are emotionally engaged in the cast. The cast choices are quite bad with the exceptions of the various villains. The last season becomes politically charged and panders to some fringe beliefs about rape/sex. There are some gender/identity politics topics showcased but unless you are very sensitive to those, they should not feel too distasteful. All and all the show cant get a positive rating for the plot stretched too thin, quality of the writing and the amount of flashbacks or episodes that happen in the mind of one of the characters. The 10% of the show that is good, is quite good

Warrior Nun (2020–2022)
Not great not terrible
4 July 2020
The writing, dialogues and narration are corny over delivered and outright bad. The cast is comprised of main character nun, black nun, asian nun, lesbian nun and so on. The fighting coreographies are seriously lame, for some reasons the nun who fight the most got diversity hires who seem the least competent in those. The entirety of the first season can divided in the 3 arcs, the first arc is comprised of the first 25 minutes of the first episode which are unbeliavably good compared to the rest and will make you wonder why there are 25 more minutes in that episode. The second arc goes from there to episode 7 and it is basically angsty teen drama featuring amazing dialogue such as "Keep talking pretty boy, i just see lips i want to kiss". Finally, the third arc encompasses the remaining episodes which finally move plot forward and stuff happens, but as you go through them it becomes pretty clear it is a one trick pony throwing plot twists at you as if there was no tomorrow, regardless of the fact they each make less sense than the previous. Culminating into a season finale that makes you wonder if just went through 10 episodes of woke bingo that just set up and advertise future seasons. The show received mixed reviews from both public and critics so there is the possibility that it wont even get renewed and you just wasted time. Strongly advice to not watch. As a closing note, the cgi is really 90s style jarring at times. The show has extensive sections spoken in spanish german french and italian, most of which without proper language coaching which result in people adding accents randomly inside words or sentences so if you are familiar with the languages it will sound like the actors are mentally challenged. I guess that's a plus for comedy.

Paul is awesome, the show does not hit the spot
12 June 2020
The format of the show: first 15 minutes we see Paul praising the place the episodes focuses on and samples local food, the remaining 6-7 minutes Paul tries to recreate one recipe with his own spin. The show is nice but hardly scratches the surface, does not feel authentic or genuine enough and it gets repetitive real quick.

Space Force (2020–2022)
Starts Strong, Loses Umpfh
31 May 2020
Preposterous premise, celebrity cast, surprisingly it worked. The script is atrocious but it gave a very humane look into the macho general played by carell. That being said the plot goes down the drain around halfway through the first season where the viewers get treated with a female musk episode and every further episode is watered down by the mundane adventures of carell's daughter and wife. I think the writers realized they wrote themselves into a corner and tried to backpedal and make extra-conjugal relationships work (without making carell the bad guy ) just to add meaningless romantic subplots. I really enjoyed the show at first as it felt wholesome and interesting but it got so bad by the end that i could not stand it anymore. While watching the season finale i kept wondering if they were trying not to get renewed

Fat Fiction (2020)
Long winded
2 April 2020
I was familiar already with the topic at hand and the research behind it is as sound as nutritional studies can get(which is not a lot). The real issue is how the documentary was presented, it was like it spent too much time beating around the bush, going in circles and repeating points. It also did not help that at times it went for smug analogies to sway opinions( how many times you had orange juice in the last year?... and so on). I dont know what was the intention of the documentary but what i know is that you either try to be accessible and resonate with the masses or you are diligent and accurate. In the end it feels like this one kind of failed at both. Not really recommended, there are 10 minutes videos on youtube who convey the same amount of information

Woke show for woke people
18 March 2020
Stellar cast wasted on forgettable characters. If it didnt try to please every "minority" it probably could have been a better show. Plenty of ethnicity but a really weak end product

Hellfire! (2019)
Jesus effing christ. That was bad
3 December 2019
I get that might have been a first experience for most of the people involved but god darnit it was bad. The movie had my attention opening with black and white nudity and some "punk rock" but it kept spiraling down to weird visuals for the sake of being weird and then the actors started speaking and emoting and the lines are so cheesy . The cast could win an alternative beauty pageant. Almost forgot to mention the cutting and jumping camera angles/pauses are jarring and dazing

Hated season2 much more than i loved season1
6 November 2019
Long story short the source material for the first season comes straight from a graphic novel. It works, it is interesting and quite surprisingly well written. The second season goes freestyle a la got later seasons and it shows, the chraracters lose their characterization and start behaving randomly as caricatures of their previous selves. An entire episode is dedicated to the backstory of a new character, she is a black woman with mental issues. She's rubbish and gets about half the screentime of every episode. There is a lot of quarreling in the fashion of desperate housewives and romance seems to become the mean and end of the show. PS doenst help that the actress playing the female lead who was supposed to look 17 in the first season looks like did meth for years s1 8.5/10 s2 0/10

Bizarre family-friendly chick flick
30 October 2019
The plot is something that only a coked up king in the early 80s could come up with. There are so many inconsistencies and thread that lead nowhere. The female protagonist was either an extremely poor fit for the part or just an extremely untalented actress. Tries to be wholesome and will definitely get on your nerve trying. The last 3-4 episodes focus almost entirely on a romantic plot so consider yourself warned if it is a turn off for you.
