Law & Order: Special Victims Unit: Name (2005)
Really reaching with this one.
Two glaring, over the top situations make this episode a real head shaker.
1. So occasionally CSU techs get to help detectives run a case? In what universe does this happen?
2. The NYPD lets people with a friggen splint/cast on the arm take part in armed actions? Must the same universe and before.
Either their police adviser was on coffee/donut break or they didn't even bother asking anyone about this.
Murder in Suburbia (2004)
Didn't have a clue, at first
I have been devouring everything I can find in the Crime/Drama genre with special emphases on those produced in the UK. I had just finished up Trial & Retribution when I came across Murder in Suburbia.
When I first began to watch the program I was expecting to see a murder/cop show. I have never been a fan of or watched the pretty boy/girl crime-fighting shows like Miami Vice or Charlie's Angels, so I didn't even consider that this was the niche that this show was going for; I was ready to slam this show without mercy for being so cutesy and sometimes, just plain silly.
Then I read the review that called the show 'fun' and spoke of the silly cop genre and then it all made sense! So this is a funny little entertainment piece that won't make you worry too much about who dun-it but will charm you with its wit. It is funny and the actors seem to work well with positive chemistry.
I like this show now more than I did at first; it grows on you if you don't judge too harshly, or too soon.
The Palace (2008)
Good British Drama
I've read all of the other seven reviews of this series. Most of the reviewers stated that they were living in Britain and the ones that didn't all seemed to know something about the channel that aired the show. There is also several comparisons to a show from here called 'The West Wing'. Also, all of the reviews were written from January through March of 2008 which is, it seems, when the series was first aired on the ITV channel.
I have never seen 'The West Wing' and I have no idea what ITV or channel 4 is all about and that's fine because none of that has any bearing on 'The Palace'.
This show stands on its own as a good, high quality series centered around a fictional royal family and the internal strive and back-biting that begins to take place after the death of the king, which starts the series and everything gets rolling from there.
This is a enjoyable little eight episode series and I wish it had gone on longer; I don't think that one can say anything better about serial entertainment; can you?
