Code 46 (2003)
This Is Why We Sit In A Darkened Theatre
I just saw Code 46 and I can NOT get this movie out of my mind. This is why we sit in darkened theaters and stare at silver screens - to feel like we've been on a fantastic journey and to have our soul stirred , if only for a moment. POSSIBLE SPOILER!!! Please don't read any further because I might give away too much of the plot with my quick explanation of this film. It's the perfect blend of "Gataca" meets "Eternal Sunshine on the Spotless Mind". If you liked these movies and enjoy a slower unfolding of the plot, then you have to see Code 46. It is kinda' slow moving and moody with 'Blade Runner"-ish backdrops, but after 20 minutes, you'll be hooked. I must admit that there are errors in screen direction and axis; but the mood, the photography, the STORY, the MUSIC, and the acting all overshadow these things. Also, there is talk of a certain song that plays as Maria dances in a club as the Tim Robbins character watches - that song IS beautiful, haunting, rhapsodic, soul stirring. Love this movie...!
