The Beautiful Game (2024)
Such a human movie...
Is this the best movie ever? No. But it is a great watch on human nature and companionship. It is very much a movie about human interaction. About making mistakes and fixing them while falling down and getting back up again. It is a movie about finding your way back up after ending in the bottom of a ditch.
And maybe that's why we should all watch it. Not for the perfect storyline but for its humanity. For it's honesty and reflection. For its painful truth. We are all fallible. We are all only human. And we all make mistakes. But we all need to grab that chance to fix what we can. Because in that we find our shared humanity.

We watch this one again and again
This one has become a Christmas staple in my household. We HAVE to watch it every year and every year we both laugh and cry over this movie.
Not only is the animation of it top notch, the casting very good and the story surprisingly fresh for a tale as old as time, the flow of the film is absolutely perfect.
It has everything from the moments you detest to the moments that you love. It has characters that you fall in love with at first sight and characters that you learn to love over the course of the film. Oh and it absolutely has characters you dislike too.
All and all it is one that we keep coming back to. And honestly? It should have won that Oscar! 😉
From Scratch (2022)
Get yourself tissues!
It might not look like it from scratch (pun intended) but this one will go right up in the feels! It will hit you, right in that soft spot and you NEED tissues. Not only is the acting absolutely fabulous, it is heartwrenchingly real and painfully true. Human relationships are shown in all its beauty and darkness!
Next to that the cinematography is stunning and as a foodie, I now want all the recipes! I just want to cook all of that gorgeous food now!
This is one of those 'secret' Netflix gems that I will point many of my friends at as I am sure many will love this series. Absolutely great watch once you dive in. It gets better and better!

Beautiful storytelling
This is a beautiful miniseries that showcases the best of Dutch cinematics. The storytelling is spot on, the graphics are great and the 'little' cinematic tricks like how the narrator turns on the cinema projector at the beginning of each episode are the icing on the cake.
Watching this series with my 8 year old and talking about the story and the underlying messaging was wonderful. We both equally enjoyed each and every episode. We were both quite sad when we got to the end, not for the ending itself (au contraire) but for the simple fact that we could no longer continue on the road of this story. We want more!
A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014)
Just what I needed
On a day that everything just sucked, this was perfect. Just the right balance between stupid (word) jokes, old western and modern comedy.
The Post (2017)
Brilliant storytelling
Strong cast and wonderful storyline. I love the pace of the movie, dragging you with it towards the end. It's compelling and strong. Love it!
The Dressmaker (2015)
Gorgeous & intriguing
Beautiful movie. Just gorgeous. And honestly, critics giving it bad reviews just missed their mark! By a clear mile!
