More overhyped than brilliant.
25 March 2024
In this cinematic rollercoaster, LJP attempts to blend more genres than a confused DJ at a wedding reception. From folk to fantasy, romance to horror, it's like he threw every cinematic ingredient into the pot and hoped for the best. The result? A cinematic stew that leaves you scratching your head wondering, "What did I just watch?"

While the plot and world-building show promise, it's ultimately overshadowed by the director's inability to maintain consistency in tone and believability. LJP's direction choices come across as bizarre and disjointed, detracting from the film's potential impact.

As the credits roll, You'll be left counting the minutes you wasted and the rupees you spent, wishing you could get them back like a bad investment.

Sloppy Writing. 2023 worst!
28 April 2023
I have to say that it is the worst film I've seen in a long time. There was nothing redeeming about this one. No matter what aspect you look at, the film fails to deliver. The story is dull and uninspired. The film tries to tackle several themes, but it fails to do so with any depth or nuance, making the experience a tedious one.

I would not recommend this film to anyone, as it falls short in every aspect. I am surprised that a filmmaker like Rajeev Ravi, who has been known for his exceptional work in the past, could produce such a mediocre film. This film was a complete waste of time and I would advise others to steer clear of it and choose something more deserving of their time and attention.

Impeccably crafted neo-noir satire
24 March 2023
Purusha Pretham is an impeccably crafted neo-noir satire that showcases outstanding performances from its talented cast. The film cleverly utilizes a flawed system as a platform to explore a range of themes, including caste-based discrimination, fragile male ego, and the oppression of women in a male-dominated society.

Alexander Prashanth delivers a remarkable performance as Sebastian, skillfully portraying the many layers of his character. Jagadish, who plays constable Dileep, is a delightful addition to the cast, earning our empathy with his convincing performance. Darshana Rajendran, in the role of Susan, is equally impressive, carrying the enigmatic character's mystery with ease.

Overall, Krishand's third feature film is a captivating satire that keeps the audience engaged with its witty writing, outstanding performances, and astute commentary on social issues.

Really, really bad.
12 November 2021
This movie isn't even worth a decent review! Wasted opportunity.

After you've watched it you're wondering by yourself; now what was that all about? The movie is not tense, not emotional and for a comedy it is not funny enough.

Basically it is a two hour movie about nothing.

Brilliantly Narrated, Visually Stunning, Great performances!
3 February 2009
I've seen some really good Malayalam movies in the recent years but so far, this maybe the best. Kaiyoppu is incredibly captivating and rich in interesting and colorful characters.

Firstly, there's Mammootty himself and I will admit if any other actor had played Balachandran it might not be the movie it is, Mammootty is simply amazing, you forget who he is within the first five minutes. There are no punch dialogs like Prajapathi but you care about Balachandran a simpleton but an intellectual and as the narration progresses you want things to turn out OK for him as much as his friends do.

To sum it up the acting is strong, the narrative is compelling enough and its semi-documentary style direction by Renjith is consistent and provides clarity and pace with a brilliant background score.

I cannot say it enough: This is one of the best to come out of Malayalam in the recent years. Watch it, and you'll see.

Perumazhakkalam - A beautiful story well told!!
11 August 2008
This is one of the best movies to come out in 2004. Director Kamal has proved it once again that he is one of the best when it comes to making an offbeat film within a commercial format.

The screenplay is flawless penned by TA Razak. The protagonists played by Meera Jasmine and Kavya Madhavan have excelled in author backed roles along with guest appearance of Dileep, Vineeth and Biju Menon. The camera of P.Sukumar, music by M.Jayachandran are the major highlights of the film. The only drawbacks are that some of rainy scenes are often repeated but with an excellent soundtrack it makes up for it.

I have to say that the film belongs to Meera Jasmine and its her powerhouse performance that keeps the viewer glued to the screenplay. Kamal has taken us back to the golden era of Malayalam films where it used to be all about the substance.

This one is sure memorable and it paints a complete picture of human emotions.
