Loki: Breaking Brad (2023)
Season 2, Episode 2
9/10
The stakes have been raised
24 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 2 was a big step up from the previous week and showed why this show is so important to the MCU. The chase scene with Brad was thoroughly exciting and great visually and action wise. I like the idea of them travelling to different time zones and am interested to see them do it throughout the series. Sylvie also makes a full comeback and she has some interesting scenes, particularly with Loki. Brad was an interesting character overall and shows how the revelations of season one will show the true side of each TVA member. The torture scene shows that maybe Loki isn't redeemed? We'll have to see. The final scene with the branches destroyed will I'm sure have a big impact. This episode had a lot of weight to it and I'm eager to see how this impacts the universe as a whole. Score: 8.5/10.

A solid start to proceedings
24 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So Loki is back and as my fave of the MCU shows I was excited. While not on the level of series one, this was a good start to proceedings. This is very much setting up the conflict of the series, so didn't have too much depth. Ke Huy Quan is a fun addition to the show and was an enjoyable presence. The meeting scene was a highlight and showed the upcoming conflict within the TVA that we'll see play out over this season. The plot with Loki being taken in and out of different time zones was solved kinda quickly and gave us some good visual spectacles, but it could have had more consequences in my view. All returning characters are still fun and I'm interested to see how the show progresses.

A thrilling and well concluded end
5 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Ahsoka is over and I am sad, as it has been some great Star Wars television. This episode gave us some thrilling fight scenes and great pay offs to character arcs, while setting up that future film that has been heavily rumoured. The quieter moments did their job, whether that be Ezra constructing his lightsaber or the end scenes. The fights were thrilling and showed the power Thrawn and the Great Mothers had. Seeing Ahsoka, Ezra, and Sabine fight together was great and Sabine's struggle with the force was paid off. Each character by the end has learned a lesson, whilst coming to an acceptance in their current position. In particular, I am eager to see where Shin and Baylon's characters go, although how Baylon will be developed after Ray Stevenson's sad passing remains to be seen. A great end to what has been a thrilling show about learning to move on and accept your new place in the galaxy. Episode Score: 9/10 Series Score: 8.5/10.

Great convos and fun fight scenes
3 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The penultimate episode of what's has been a great Star Wars show sets up what is set to be an exciting finale. The scene with the senators and Hera was a great reminder of the naivety of the New Republic and why it failed. C-3PO's cameo was great in the absence of the late Carrie Fisher. Also, Nelson Lee's character reminded me again that I need to watch Resistance at some point. The main bread and butter was Ahsoka and Huynag fighting off the Imps, with some great space combat and on the ground fighting. Also, this may be one of my fave new Star Wars duos. Reuniting with Sabine and Ezra was great, with Ezra showing how he has matured as a Jedi with Ahsoka and Sabine showing how they have learnt from their past mistakes in combat. Baylon diverging from Shin showed how he truly has become separate from the good v evil conflict and I'm interested to see how his story concludes. Shin is basically abandoned and I wonder how the next chapter of her story will come about. Thrawn as usual is one step ahead and still the great strategist we all know. (Also I need to read his books to understand his relationship with Anakin and why he is in alliance with the night sisters) Also, the Anakin scene was fun and well used. I'm sad this season is almost over, but it's been a fun and thrilling ride to set up the soon to be announced crossover film. Score: 8.5/10.

Ahsoka: Part Six: Far, Far Away (2023)
Season 1, Episode 6

The return of our hero and antagonist
3 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 6 sees us finally reach our new galaxy and it marks a great return for Thrawn and Ezra. Thrawn remains a menacing presence and Lars Mikkelsen now looks the part as well as sounds it. Also, Captain Enoch has an interesting character design. Ezra now played by Eman Esfandi returns and Sabine's journey to find him is a fun ride with a new species introduced. Baylon and Shin have a very interesting conversation which sets up that they are going on different parts. Baylon has been a very interesting character to follow and it's a shame we won't see him after this series. Overall, a very good episode that gives the last two episodes the time to breathe and hopefully conclude what has been a very good show.

Star Wars: Rebels: Zero Hour: Part 2 (2017)
Season 3, Episode 22

Season Review
19 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
After two good series', season 3 takes things up a notch. Not only do we get more consistently great episodes, but a lot leas filler then last season except that forgettable one where Chopper gets hacked. We get a truly good range of stuff with Thrawn introduced who is a great villain who is intelligent, intriguing, and a true adversary for the heroes. Maul is also a key villain as well, with his story brought to a successful conclusion. Ezra becomes more mature and developed as he learns to not blindly trust others and his responsibility as a leader. Kanan learns how to be wise and use his powers beyond his sight. Sabine has probably the most interesting development as she learns to trust herself and become the leader her people need. Also seeing Kallus become a good guy is earned and he becomes a great character. We also get more Mandalorian content as well which is cool. Highlights for me are 'The Last Battle' which was a nice wrap up for the Clone Wars, 'Visions and Voices' was a great developer of Maul and Ezra's story and provided pivotal moments for many characters, 'Through Imperial Eyes' which is a great thrilling Ezra/Kallus team-up and of course the two part finale 'Zero Hour' which was an action packed and thrilling conclusion to the series. It also led to the end of the Bendu (Tom Baker) who I would have loved to learn more about. But, the brilliant points of the series are 'Twin Suns' and 'Trials of the Darksaber'. The former ends Maul's arc in style and it's a great end to Ezra's connection to Mail before a swift, but satisfying fight between Maul and Obi-Wan. The latter is maybe the best episode of the show. It's a great development and backstory for Sabine, showing why she is the way she is and allows her to let go and be the best she can be. It's a very underrated piece of Star Wars media and deserves way more credit than it gets. A true step up in class this series and the best so far. One more to go! Score: 8.25/10.

Ahsoka: Part Five: Shadow Warrior (2023)
Season 1, Episode 5

Truly brilliant Star Wars!
19 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Man what an episode. Dave Filoni does it again and gives us another classic piece of Star Wars media. Not only was it great to have Anakin and Ahsoka side by side in live action, but the scenes were brilliant and were pivotal for the story. Ahsoka had to learn she needs to train Sabine to be a Jedi and not a warrior and this was perfectly done by showing Ahsoka flashbacks of her time in the Clone Wars. Also, she had to get over her guilt for Anakin's turn into Vader, which was a great final lesson. Shoutout to Ariana Greenblatt who was a great young Ahsoka and keeps killing it of late and Hayden of course was brilliant. Some of the shots as well were magnificent, especially the ones that showed the switch between Anakin and Vader. Man that stuff was perfecto. The rest of it shows Jason tapping into the force to find Ahsoka and I'm glad we're seeing his origin as a potential Jedi. The Purgil stuff at the end was a great closer and ended a fabulous episode. Man this was truly magnificent television and I can't wait for the rest.

Oh yeah, this is the good stuff
18 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
After a pretty good start, we get to the amazing stuff. Man, this episode delivered on so many levels. We get Ahsoka and Sabine teaming up which was great to watch and they did indeed kick butts. Ahsoka just absolutely destroying Marrok was great to see and the fact he was probs just a Dathomir Witch Zombie is cool and makes sense. Sabine's fight with Shin was also great with Sabine using her skills to her advantage. Also some Huyang action was cool. Hera defying orders to save the day made absolute sense and her actions having consequences im sure will come back to effect her in the future. Also, I'm liking Jason so far and hope we get to see more of him. Finally, the battle between Ashoka and Baylon was a great fight full of emotion, great choreography and weight to it. Sabine's turn at the end made sense, especially with the reveal that her family was killed in the purge. Baylon is such an interesting and complex character and I'm excited to see his motivations. Oh, and how could I forget that reveal of Anakin at the end. Perfect ending to a pretty amazing episode of Television.

Just a lot of fun
18 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 3 is quite short, but is fun and action packed. Ahsoka and Sabine go out to find Baylon and Elsbeth and we get some great action scenes. I always love a bit of Star Wars dogfighting and we get some great stuff here. It's fun, looks good, and makes for some fun scenes, especially when Ahsoka is fighting them off in space. Meanwhile, Hera is trying to get the New Republic on side. The scene between Hera and Chancellor Mothma and the senators is interesting. It highlights why the New Republic didn't last so long and shows the divisions between the soldiers and the politicians. Overall, a lot of fun and some story expansion, on to the next. Score: 7.5/10.

An enjoyable finale, but not blowing my socks off
8 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The finale to season two of The Bad Batch was thrilling and high stakes, but didn't quite wow me. It has some great highs, with Tech's death emotional (even if it was spoiled for me), while the attempt to get Omega at the end was thrilling. For me, it just was very good but not quite as good as the best this series had to offer, although I had a lot of fun here and we got a satisfying conclusion to the series. How they end the show will be interesting and the reveal of the assistant as Onega's sister is interesting. The series as a whole has been really good with some exceptional episodes like the Solitary Clone, the Clone Bill two parter and The Outpost adding some grit and weight to the Clone's story. The 'filler' episodes which see the Batch on adventures were mostly fun and added character development, bar a few. This was another fun, intriguing tale with some great development for the Clones and some more details to the cloning of Palpatine. Bring on Series 3. Episode score and Series Score: 8/10.

A fun second part to another good series
8 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Ahsoka continues to be a fun ride and intriguing series in the Star Wars canon. We got some great action in this second part particularly in the scenes on Corellia. The lightsaber fights were great and well choreographed and the ship scenes were good as well. I think Skoll, Hati, and Elsbeth are all interesting characters who are well played and I'm eager to learn more about them and their motives. Ray Stevenson is a great addition to the franchise and I'm sad he won't be back after this series. The whole Thrawn returning and the Empire coming back is interesting to learn about, as we see why the New Republic failed. Also, the re-creation of the final scene in Rebels was well done. A fun second part that keeps the story going and gives us some good action. Score: 7.5/10.

Ahsoka: Part One: Master and Apprentice (2023)
Season 1, Episode 1
7/10
A good start with some issues
6 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I was very hyped for Ashoka (Rebels Season 5) and this was a good start. The new live action characters (Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera and Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine) feel like the characters from Rebels, even if some of Sabine's characters traits seem more in line with her character before the Darksaber arc. Rosario Dawson as Ashoka is great, and as she remains a top-class choice for the character, while David Tennant's return as Huyang is a good addition. Ashoka and Sabine being master and apprentice is an interesting dynamic that I'm eager to see more. Ray Stevenson is a commanding presence as Baylon Skoll and an interesting character, whose motivations I'm eager to learn about, alongside his apprentice (Shin Hati played by Ivanna Sakhno). I will say I thought this was a great set-up for the series but the fight at the end not having any lasting ramifications seemed a bit off for me. I feel like a light-side character recovering quickly from that doesn't seem right. That slightly dampens my liking, but this is still a solid start. Score: 7.5/10.

Series Review
5 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Top Boy Series 1 (or Summerhourse Series 1 if you have Netflix) is very good stuff. Ashley Walters as DeShane and Kano as Sully are great leads and play well together as the calm and collected one and the brash and impulsive one. Their story works, is action packed and reaches a satisfying conclusion by the end. Ra'Nell (Malcolm Kamulete) also has a great storyline as a kid trying to avoid being involved in the gangster life, but falling into it to help others. The two stories collide and show the gritty reality of being involved in crime and the consequences it has. The acting here is great, the story is thrilling and well paced and it's a great first season. It may only be 4 episodes, but it's great stuff. Score: 8.5/10 (Also shoutout Brian Eno's score)

An enjoyable start to the finale
28 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So I have finally come back to this show to finish season two and part 1 of the finale is good stuff. The gang go to a big time imperial meeting to help find where Crosshair is being kept. It's a fun and well paced action with them sneaking into the base and planting a tracking device. Saw Gerrera coming into the episode was a surprise and raised the stakes somewhat. The hint at a romance between Tech and Phee seemed kinda out of nowhere and a bit odd. While it was cool to see Tarkin, Krennic, and all the other top Impreials, it didn't feel like it added much to the episode considering we knew they'd all survive this encounter. This was a good set up, let's see if the finale delivers.

Season Review
25 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Series 2 of Rebels ups the stakes somewhat on a number of levels. Vader joins the show and he is a menacing presence in very scene he appears. The two new inquisitors are also fearsome foes. Also the return of Maul in the finale is great. Ashoka and Rex retuning are also well done and are fleshed out well. In particular, Ashoka coming to realise what and who Vader is makes for one of the season's great arcs and culminates in one of Star Wars' best ever duels. The gang joining the rebels full time is done well, but not explored to a large extent. For me the focus is on the force weilders. Highlights are the opener which show the power and ferocity of Vader, the introduction of Rex back into the show, Kallus and Zeb forced to team up, the Lothal temple visions and of course that finale. We do get some filler episodes, but they are mostly fun at least. Some very high points, a few eh points, but mostly solid stuff. Season Score: 7.5/10.

Series Review: An enjoyable and fun start
5 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
With Ashoka on the way, I thought it time to watch this show again. Season one introduces us to the crew, their motivations, the Empire on Lothal, and to the wider Rebellion at the end. Probably the best thing about this season is the development of Kanan and Ezra's relationship, and their self doubts about being Jedi and good enough for one another. I like the other Ghost crew members as well, they are all interesting characters who will be explored in more depth later. There is some filler here and a few eh episodes, but the majority develops the plot well and in a good way. Agent Kallus isn't too developed in this season and neither are most villains here, but they fit a role. The Inquisitor is a fearsome presence and his interactions with Kanan are always great. The lightsaber fights are always pretty good and feel weighted to the plot. I was satisfied with the pacing and how this series concluded things. Overall, a fun and enjoyable start, that finds its feet well. But, the meat and potato? That comes later. Score: 7/10.

A good setup for the finale
23 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
After the explosive last episode, we are reaching the climax of this great show. Cassian and Melshi are on the run and eventually part ways at the end. Most of this episodes focus, is on the death of Maarva and the impact it will have. It again highlights the power of community and the well written characters on Ferrix. Meanwhile, Mon and Vel have some scenes, again showing off their good performances and importance to the story. Luthen gets the best stuff this episode. His scene destroying the ships was a blast and his scene with Saw was also great. Seeing the different rebel attitudes clash has been very interesting and highlights the true struggle of groups to overcome evil and corruption in government. Not the most impactful episode, but some good acting and setup for the finale.

Eternals (2021)
8/10
A surprisingly enjoyable and interesting film
19 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
After putting this off due to a poor reception and a lack of desire to watch, I finally got round to Eternals. And hey, this is actually a pretty good film. This feels like a breath of fresh air in the MCU in terms of story and style. The Sci-Fi and mythical feel was a new and interesting take and led to some great visuals and action scenes. The Eternals vary but I found all characters enjoyable to different extents although Sersi could be quite flat at points. Ikaris was a fairly interesting villain whose motives made sense and Richard Madden did a good job. His death was a bit underwhelming and he had potential for future films. The other villain the sentient Deviant was interesting, but more character development could have led to something great. Kingo and his sidekick were a lot of fun, although his departure at the end was kinda odd. Sprite had an interesting arc due to her upset at being unable to do adult things, Phastos is someone I would be interested to see more of, Makkari and Druig were both interesting and I'm eager to see more along with Thena. Ajak and Gilgamesh played their parts well and while Dane's role was small, I am eager to learn more (especially after the post credits scene). The plot made for an interesting story and parallels with the pro-life/pro-choice debate. The Celestails were presented well here and I'm eager to see more of them in the MCU. This film exceeded expectations due to fun action scenes, a fresh tone, and some pretty good acting and plot. I'm eager to see more of the Eternals. Score: 7.5/10.

Oh yeah, this is top tier Star Wars!
18 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Man what a phenomenal episode. This closes the best arc of the series in style and has some epic scenes and speeches. The prison breakout was incredible stuff and showed the strength and hope that will lead to the end of the Empire. Great stuff from Andy Serkis and Diego Luna and that one way out speech gets the chef's kiss. Speaking of great speeches, Luthen has some great moments in this episode. His ruthlessness is cold, but his speech highlights his desire to the cause and why he is necessary to the alliance. Mon Mothma's scenes highlights the desperation and sacrifices people have to make for the Alliance. Some great acting all around here. Truly one of the best TV shows of the 2020s.

Crosshair's Redemption?
15 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
As setup to the finale, this episode did its job. The Batch reunite with Echo who is trying to find more clones who have been imprisoned and what happened to them. Meanwhile after the incident on Barton-4, Crosshair is in an imperial prison and attempts to escape. Dr. Hemlock seems fairly menacing, although I would like to learn more about him. Also, people moaning this is too kiddy, you got some adult scenes and conversations in this episode. It appears the Batch will go to save Crosshair and I imagine their will be a fight with the doctor. Interested to see how season two ends. It's been another fun season of Star Wars content.

The Evil of the Empire on Full Display!
15 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This show has been consistent as ever, and this episode is another great setup for one will be a big one next time out. The scenes in the prison are great for showing the lack of hope in the prisoners and the monotony of their lives. Scenes between Diego Luna and Andy Serkis are great and highlight why they are perfect fits for their characters. The scene at the end with the man dying of a stroke was brutal and shows just how evil and compassion less the empire are and that they have made others. Syril scenes are interesting, highlighting how the empire and Dedra in particular have him obsessed. Mon Mothma meanwhile is just as desperate as the other two characters in her goals. Also, the torture scenes with Bix are brutal and show in the flesh how cruel and evil the Empire really is. Another great episode and what a series this is.

A great episode for character evolution
28 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This show continues to amaze me with its ability to keep you interested and invested in all the main players and the side characters. We see a lot of development here as all the main people take steps towards their part to play in the show. Cassian Andor is now in a prison workplace with Andy Serkis who I'm interested to see how his character develops. They highlight well how the prison wears you down, the cruelty of the empire, and how they make individuals submit. Meanwhile, Mon Mothma is getting more rebellious and involved, while their is a crackdown on Morlana One. ISB officer Dedra Meero continues to get hardline and has a very interesting interaction with Syril. Also the exchange between Saw and Luthen was very intriguing and highlights how the empire had kept people divided for so long. This show continues to be brilliant and long may that continue. Score: 8.5/10.

Another intriguing one off episode
28 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
People seem to not like that this is an episodic show and seem to want it to be more series based. This show very much reminds of Doctor Who in that there is a connecting theme which it will highlight at points in the season, before concluding it at the end of the series. This episode saw the Batch looking for somewhere to retire, but a natural disaster reminding them that their not safe. This is a very laidback episode that looks more at the characters then the action and that is fine by me. We got some good character development before the Batch be heroes at the end. This episode for me highlights that no matter what the Batch do, they can't escape danger and that their destiny is to help others in crisis and keep fighting. This was a light but fun episode and a nice detour. Score: 7.5/10.

This show continues to deliver!
27 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It's been a while since I watched this show but after finishing Mando I came back to it. After the big heist we start the next chapter of this series and see the consequences of that event. Cassian is on the run and ends up being caught by the Empire for something he didn't do because they are on high alert. It is kind of poetry in motion and I believe it will help motivate him to join the Alliance. Mom Mothma is now looking for allies and I am very interested to see how her family life changes as she gets more involved. Syril doesn't have too much development but seeing him try to get involved in a more normal job, while still wanting to be part of the Empire was interesting. Dedra Meero has become more powerful and gained some recognition and I'm interested to see where this takes her character. The way this shows balances all these characters is excellent and it's truly a well written show. A very consistent piece of Television, I can't wait to see where it goes next. Score: 8.5/10.

The Mandalorian: Chapter 23: The Spies (2023)
Season 3, Episode 7
9/10
A great buildup to the finale.
27 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The penultimate episode of season 3 is also its best and was a great set up to the finale. Gideon is back and Giancarlo Esposito is great as ever in the role. They made his return feel earned and as impactful as it should have been. I loved the scene at the start with the Imperial leaders, including introducing legends and book characters , whilst teasing the return of a certain Thrawn. The fight scenes were great to watch and were some fantastic choreography. Also, the building of the lore of the Mandalorian's and the night of an thousand tears was done well. If anything, this series has hit the nail on the head when it comes to Mandalorian lore. The new Red guards were cool and were appropriately shown to be powerful. A nice start to this ending, a shame part 2 didn't deliver. Score: 8.75/10.
