I was extremely sceptic like any other Magnum fan..... but forget about the original series and don't compare it.
What you DO need to compare is the overall rating (at the time of this review a 5.3) and the individual ratings per episode...
See my point? Most of the episodes receive between a 7 and 8..... sometimes higher...
My word of advice: enjoy the series and don't compare.
OF COURSE Magnum should've been a woman (Magnum's daughter), and OF COURSE we should've seen guest roles by the original cast members. I know all that....
But let it go..... just enjoy this show set on beautifull Hawaii (I believe Oahu)?
When they're going to reboot Miami Vice (don't ever mention the movie... it does NOT exist for the real fan) it will not be the same either.
The good thing is, both the original Magnum and Vice still holds up to these day.... just rewatch it and see these series as a nice bonus.
