Initially interesting in theory, but a ultimately a huge disappointment in practice. Peter Petrelli is no longer innocent...
As a huge fan of both Heroes/Ventimiglia (and Charmed/Alyssa Milano) I was really looking forward to seeing this!
After watching the trailer I knew it would be teen-horror material and as I purchased my tickets I thought, "this is going to be a 6/10 or 7/10 movie, but who cares, it'll be fun".
How wrong I was. It was unrealistic, with half a storyline that didn't even make sense and one that was overshadowed by constantly unnecessary sex. It was basically a chance for the actors and actresses to bare it all, but not as if it was for a real cause, just for the sake of baring it all. Perhaps in a round about way it presented how psychotic and animalistic this group of killers were, but nevertheless it was overly displayed.
What seemed like an inventive idea was enforced so incorrectly. It began with some fondling, the middle was all about fondling and the end, well, I guess that was all a result of some over-fondling too.
There was no need for the themes of incest or paedophilia as there was no serious kind of take on the matter - not that you would expect anything serious from this kind of film. It just made you feel sick.
It is rated 18 for it's sex and gore, yet its "intellect" appeals to that of 13 to 17 year olds. The dead-bodies-lie-open-on-the-table scenario will be familiar to those that remember Clare Bennet's escape from death in Heroes Season One.
I really don't understand why he joined the "bad crowd", I mean I have heard of peer pressure, but just because there was some evidence used to blackmail him doesn't mean he had to start killing people, taking drugs and getting involved in sex despite being engaged to someone else. He did all the things he originally despised them for. It was nonsense, as if the director just clicked his fingers and said "snap" you are now one of them, we don't know why or how, you just are!!
This film really infuriated me, it was ridiculous!!!!
All in all, don't pay any money to watch this waste of time. If it's on TV one day or in a bargain bin for £2 then you could try bear it. Otherwise steer clear away from it, just because Milo and Alyssa are in it does not mean it will be good. Stay Alive, a previous Milo film was also a huge let down, but it was slightly more bearable than this, so if you want to, try that first. Hopefully he will be picked up by better film makers/writers in the future.
After watching this movie your mother or little brother (who shouldn't be watching it in the first place) might realise that Peter Petrelli is not the innocent "idol" that they always looked up to.
