It's not related to The Purge franchise
7 November 2022
I was so disappointed in this film. The description and publicity poster looked great, a 45th president reintroduces the purge in the year 2025. They should be sued for false advertising... NOTHING IN THE POSTER APPEARS IN THE FILM!

Awful sound, very low budget, acting was atrocious - it was like watching a bunch of friends messing about. No character building. Terrible script with no story path. Hell, over two hours long and "the purge" doesn't start until almost an hour in. Virtually nothing happens.

No idea why they put a lot of time into a childish version of The Apprentice and Trump. It was immature, cheaply made, tacky and not funny, plus had nothing to do with the "film".

If you watch it, the first ten minutes gives a good idea of the rest of the film's production and acting. Worst film I have ever watched. It's going to win an award, the Razzie award 2022.

It even includes 80s style titillating shots of women. Bad script. Bad acting. Bad sound engineering. Bad camera work.

Worth a watch, forget it's Lifetime
26 October 2022
First of all, don't be put off by it being a Lifetime movie, if they start making all their movies this good, camera work, script, locations and acting, their reputation for movies will skyrocket. Worth a watch, and so glad I wasn't put off by it being a Lifetime movie.

It's on par with quality films releases by Netflix or Prime, a lot of talented people involved in the acting through to bystanders and small details.

The protagonist did remind me of Britney Spears' Baby one more time.

Ignore bad reviews who compare it to the 1950s movie, it's 2022 now and stands on its own as a film. Try it, or watch the first one with the same actress in first, from 2018.

How life can turn bad in a minute
9 April 2022
I enjoyed this revenge film. Realistic acting and scenarios. Shows how life can suddenly change in a heartbeat and have bad people in your life. I read one review saying "not another revenge movie", but how is that a review? They don't want any more revenge movies made? It's like saying not another animated film... This movie, I'm glad I saw it. I've seen thousands of movies in 35 years as an adult, and this is about 7/10 in all revenge films.

Kids will enjoy it more than adults
22 December 2021
Kids will enjoy this more, I've seen from most reviews people slate it because they compare it to the 1990s Home Alone movies ... Made 30 years ago! Kids see those classic films and consider them looking dated. Like adults see 1970s and 80s movies dated. It may be the usual recipe, a kid left at home to stop burglars but what would they expect?!? It's like saying heist and spy movies copy each other. It's a good family movie, some funny moments, just the kid's weird English accent is bad, and I live in London.

Good serial killer movie
1 December 2021
Realistically shows the killer's psychopathic tendencies and lack of empathy very well. Danielle alone deserves 10/10 for her acting. Some bits of almost too realistic gore, apart from heads in jars (re trailer). Enjoyed the film, and the last 10 mins deserves its own movie!

Very entertaining action movie
21 August 2021
I watch around 3 movies a day, most genres and seem most films. This is on level with action movies having a strong storyline. Bad reviews puzzle me. Maybe they should stick to another genre. Great stunts, camera angles and acting. It was a fun movie.

Great movie and acting
14 May 2021
First... Ignore low reviews from people who read the book. This is a movie! I hate it when people expect a film, lasting under 2 hours, to be similar to the book. Probably 0.001 percent of viewers have or will read the book. It's a film to review. So here goes, it's entertaining. Original, under a genre of Hitchcock. Great acting and clever camera work. Enjoy it. Just don't expect it to be exactly like the book and you'll be entertained. Those reviewers remind me of annoying reviews about a product , giving it one star, and only write about a late delivery! It helps no one.

For DC and Marvel fans
6 April 2021
Started as a slow burner and ended up a brilliant movie, with emotional acting and believable lives. So well acted and written. It's like a starter movie to what I hope will be a trilogy. Excellent entertainment and original.

A camera phone mess
23 March 2021
Firstly this is from the director of Orphan, a brilliant film. This one isn't.

Annoying and unbelievable camera work. This guy seems to have a camcirder (not phone) glued to his forehead all the time, with an amazing battery life.

Average story,, plenty of gore in second half, moments of gratuitous clips thrown in.

I wish there was an Orphan sequel.

Worst film of 2021
26 February 2021
I wish I had painted a wall and watched it dry for 2 hours. Slow burner, imagine the worst episode of CSI. The ending is more puzzling than doing sudoku blind folded, of why it was even made as a movie. This is the first one star I have ever given. I guess WB have the two big stars on their books and paid them well. I understood it, but it's predictable and boring. Watch it and decide for yourself, and if you think some reviews are paid for, because high reviews make millions.

Only watch if you like Harry Hill TV shows
31 January 2021
9/10 if you enjoy HH's sense of humour and watch his numerous TV shows.

0/10 if you've never seen Harry Hill before. His slapstick humour is an acquired taste. If you still go ahead and watch it, and don't like it, don't bother leaving a review. He has a cult following of fans, and it's unfair to do.

Like JK Rowling? You'll love this!
10 January 2021
Firstly I read reviews slating the "dubbing" or "English voices". Glad I wasn't put off watching this. Voices went 100% with their mouths and it's set in 1950s style, cars to telephones. The English SPOKE with clear Queen's English in that era, watch any films from the 1930s, 40s and 50s.

Great storyline, if you're able to follow smart plots, good acting and huge sets with amazing special effects on par with Hollywood. I assume some reviewed this as if the cold war was on. It's entertaining, obviously had a huge budget. If I didn't know it was Russian, I'd have assumed it was a JK Rowling release with an original set of characters and setting. Please read reviews and then watch it, it's fun, great FX and imaginative scenes for all ages.

Deserves better reviews if you know mental health
28 October 2020
Really good film, and good twists. Superb acting by the wife, reminded me of my ex who suffered paranoia and was on meds. Similar behaviour. Those who wrote bad reviews haven't experienced someone with mental health problems. Very good movie. Realistic.

Falling Down on Acid
27 October 2020
Brilliant movie, and the only movie that's on par or better than Falling Down (Michael Douglas). Made me jump a few times, well scripted, acted and filmed. Some traffic stunts were as good as the Terminator movies. Thoroughly enjoyable realistic escapism.

Now this was entertaining and well made
17 October 2020
I've seen the thousands of movies and rarely write a review, or give 10 stars. This film wouldn't have been made 10 years ago. It had a strong story line, superb acting and extremely good production. I really recommend this. If you liked the Final Destination films, you'll love this, even though the story and settings are different.

Enjoyable and edge of your seat moments
4 September 2020
Glad I ignored the low reviews and watched this. Thoroughly entertaining. Also educational for gullible or older viewers. Had many cliff hangers and was enjoyable. Shame some people may be put off by any one star reviews, it means they will miss this. Well made and good script and acting.

Wrong props for the 70s
2 September 2020
Good facts used but details to settings was wrong. Example, the detective uses a PC and monitor that wasn't around in 1982, the 286 PC came out in 1988. The night club played techno that wasn't around until 1989, coming from Detroit. Some parked cars in the background, clearly viewable, weren't made before the year 2000. Some ham acting like lines are being read without rehearsals.

Enjoyable movie set in 1979
28 August 2020
Entertaining film, great attention to detail as set in 1979. The three teens' friendship seems most genuine, beyond acting. No unnecessary gore and very well filmed. I liked it, and was surprised it isn't scored at 6 or 7. Reminded me of Stranger Things. Enjoyable flick, but don't expect a horror movie, but you will be entertained.

Enjoyable movie especially for horror newbies
24 August 2020
Some people gave this low marks... I can't see why. The posh English accents are common in Asia, they are well spoken. Accept that and you'll enjoy the movie. One said the acting was bad, only the first "clip" as it was supposed to be a short film by students! I guess they didn't see the rest of the film and the professionally made "clips" that followed. It's enjoyable, average, but for young people who've not seen many horror movies they will like it.

How did this get 3x Arts Funding?
25 July 2020
Worst film I've seen in years. Chops all over the place like bad editing. Bad continuity, such as the train scene, of the scenery going past. Bad acting too. Worst script. Choose another film, don't believe the 5.7 rating (as of today) is genuine. It raised funds from 3 Art Funds for films and 2 supported organisations. How?!? Now that would make for a good film. Not this one. No story, apart from one guy strangling women in long takes, boring and bad lazy taste.

Really enjoyable movie, wow
17 July 2020
Living in the UK I always assumed only Hollywood made movies of this quality, and SFX. And any review saying it's like inception, so what? It's like saying all heist, spy or slasher movies aren't worth watching if you've seen one movie! This film was entertaining, great story and ideas. I would recommend. I hope Netflix releases it with dubbing. I want to find other Russian movies now, I've almost run out oh Hollywood films!

If you like Lifetime afternoon movies...
3 May 2020
Hard to rate really. If you like afternoon Lifetime style movies aimed at mums, then you'd love this film. It's with a 7 then. Camila performss a brilliant acting role. Yet if you like thrillers that are often shown in the late evenings, this is worth a 3. Well made Lifetime-type movie, but the majority will want more from a film.

An Intelligent Film
1 May 2020
I am surprised at some negative reviews. I guess they're comparing it to other films. This is original and has an intelligent story to follow, and covers mental health really well. It's a Marmite type of film, if you only want supernatural or a slasher movie, move on. If you want a well written script (would make a brilliant novel) that's a slow burner because it deals with their characters, you will enjoy this film. I did.

Scooby Doo meets Fantasy Island
18 April 2020
Well filmed, good script and acting, but too heavily influenced by Scooby Doo! And the rating could be a PG. Lacked suspense and gore. I prefer suspense over gore, and like jump scares. This had none. Like the original TV series.

A True Masterpiece of Suspense
8 April 2020
Seriously, his movie has more suspense in it than any thriller or horror movie I've ever seen. Watch it uninterrupted and you'll be on the edge of your seat. It's based on a true story, so don't expect Hollywood style explosions and gore. Brilliant movie, great acting and original suspense.
