Whitechapel (2009)
ITV Drama at its very worst
After watching an episode of Demons I did not think that ITV could possibly commission anything worse.
Not sure if the writers need to be shot, though I thoroughly suspect them of being the cause, the dodgy direction, or even a supporting cast member (Philip Davis)who looks as if he learnt his trade on Albert square. The dialogue is painful at best as it clonks its way across the screen.
The detectives do not seem to be able to detect anything, they have a police station that does not seem to have a computer with a database, if this is a true reflection on modern day police stations then no wonder so many crimes go unsolved. The police station and staff seem to resemble in many ways the same station from Life on Mars, just thrown in a team of disjointed detectives when a new D.I. comes in and we have that show, oh no we don't, Life on Mars was a good show.
So, after an hour of tired clichés and bad acting, with a promise of two more episodes to come, we are waiting to see if this time the ripper mystery actually gets solved, I think however we will all end up trying to figure out a greater mystery of how such a steaming pile of dung could have ever been commissioned, let alone broadcast to a very unfortunate number of viewers.
