The simple fact is if you enjoy Judd Apatow movies, you'll "Love" this show. It clearly has Judd's influence all over it but you can tell it's a collaboration of the many.
Paul Rust is brilliant as the ever likeable Gus and Gillian Jacobs is a triumph as the amazing Mickey. You root for them to be ok as a couple from beginning to end, even when (or especially when) they display their human frailties, imperfections and, at times, demons.
A consistent theme with Judd's movies is the strength and quality of the supporting cast and this show is no exception to the rule.
I've watched this show, easily, four times over now and I get something new from it every time. It's my Gran Torino.
