The Umbrella Academy (2019)
yet another one.
Season one started with promise, the cast was interesting, the plot looked pretty good and while the characters were shallow they had a reason to be so (narcissistic father) and I would still have rated it 9/10 at the time. The show came off as if the writing could become insightful.
Wind forward 2 seasons and it's all too clear they had no idea at all, every character further devolved into ugly cardboard cutouts, a cartoonish replica of human interaction and it only gets worse. The whole show degenerated into woke narcissistic boilerplate nonsense.
I once ate old bacon by mistake and that tangy greasy spoiled sensation at the back of my throat is what this show is like.
But that's Netflix new normal. YUCK.
Ok-tab-bang Wang-se-ja (2012)
Confused
I guess it's supposed to be a fun show about karma and stuff, the soul's of some people played out by the same actors in 2 different timelines, to some effect.
For me the writing seems off, the characters come off as rather flat and the plot they are supposed to build up never really get's me interested, I had a hard time paying attention to either the plot confusion, gender confusion or the acting confusion. I stuck around for 5 episodes because until this one I had not been disappointed by Korean show's but then I could bear it no longer.
Didn't give it 1 star because it seems like they did have some ambition somewhere, took a chance and I guess that's worth a star.
Craig Ross Jr.'s Monogamy (2018)
feels incredibly cheap
It pretends to be High production value, But 30 minutes in and it's crystal clear it's cheap and stitched together from many disjointed little clips and a lot of voice acting, can't believe someone put their name on it.
Teen Wolf (2011)
all the BS that weren't good enough for twilight
All that, and more somehow made it into this show. Both weepy and amoral, fastpaced and filled with padding so corny it's almost a satire of itself, the only actual mystery is how it made it to 6 seasons.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
the formula is no good
Formulaic TV where every episode is essentially the same which is not a huge issue in and of itself, if it werent for the fact that the formula is so incredibly bad.
1) Nothing ever makes sense, and the people that wrote it thinks your used to not understanding ANYTHING, you have to be pretty buzzed or have IQ issues if you can think about anything in this series for more than half a second without the illusion cracking to pieces.
2) No wonder they picked the dystopian theme, it makes writing so much easier with conflict and drama everywhere, too bad all of it is complete nonsense and people argue for no real reason apart from the trash dystopian setting.
3) There is absolutely no followthrough, Michael disobey's her commanding officer and starts a war against a race because Blingon's are bad and she hates them ? even though she's supposed to be half Vulcan and therefor genetically dispositioned for logic and reason over feelings she does stupid things for stupid reasons every single time but that does drive the plot forward for another 5 stupid minutes.
4) I don't like ANYONE on the show, every single one of them seems somewhat wooden, has less class than the kardashians and less intelligence than a piece of cardboard.
No wonder they never made plans for more than 2 seasons in the same "timeline" the plot holes just grow and grow I'm amazed people can stand it for even a single episode.
The Culture High (2014)
Onesided propaganda
The Netflix description of this documentary claims it presents an unbiased view on marijuana legislation. The reason i came here to review it was the fact that it's massively biased towards legal pot, and that at least half their arguments are simply nonsensical propaganda.
This documentary presents so many flawed arguments in favor of legal pot, by people that come off as ... damaged (by drugs?) that it ends up being one big argument against legal pot. Witch is sad, I think legislation is a good idea, and an unbiased documentary would be very much worth a watch, but this trite zeitgeist knockoff is entertainment for morons and druggies.
Not worth your time, skip it
