Pushing Daisies (2007)
Delightful and unexpectedly romantic!
I loved this show! So original and stylish. It's like a children's book come to life...except for adults. I didn't see a single misstep...it had fantastic cinematography, the performances were great, and the dialog was witty. So rare these days. You really care about Ned and Chuck and hope things work themselves out so they can express their love physically. When Chuck and Ned look at each other, their longing for each other is palatable. Nice job by Lee Pace and Anna Friel.
And that's the wonderful thing about this show...the sweet romance between Ned and Chuck. I love the inventive ways they are having them "touch" without touching...having the detective hug Chuck for Ned, holding their own hands behind their back and pretending they are holding the other's hand, and having the plaster monkeys kiss in proxy for them. All of this made me go "Awww!" What can I say? I'm a sucker for romance.
I hope the quality holds up and I worry about that because the bar has been set so high. But I'm going to enjoy it for as long as its on. Great show.
