The Girl from Nowhere (2012)

Entertaining Drama..low horror

This film is mostly drama...it has a tad bit or horror in it. But this is not a horror film. I found the story entertaining. The acting was great. It is a French film. I did not mind reading the subtitles.

I rate this film and 8 because it feels like an 8 compared to the other films I have viewed recently.

Good choice for leading man. He seemed effortless in his acting and I was easily absorbed.

The leading lady was attractive and charming. All her scenes were believable.

The story was obviously fiction. But to me that true virtues of this movie is that you allowed yourself to be absorbed and suspended reality to be engulfed in the movie.

Drifters (2011)

Very good drama

This film deals with a brother and his half sister that grow attracted to each other. It is Italian and I view it with the English subtitles. Still, I viewed the entire movie and followed the drama to the end. It seemed to end suddenly in my opinion. The main topic is taboo buy North American standards. Much like first cousins being sexually attracted to each other. Each person will have to make up their own minds if they are willing to tolerate this type of story. I found the acting to be good. I found the actors to be likable and the story to be entertaining. I think the sets and production was good. This is a quiet night movies for adults with grown up minds.

Ex Machina (2014)

Very good on many points!

This movie is very good on many points. I am not going to be specific. Just going to point out what I liked about this movie. The story was not just good. It was very original and challenging to a mature mind. The sets were good. Special effects were concentrated on bringing the "android" to life. I think they were successful. The actors were well chosen and I found them believable and I was easily engulfed into the drama of the film. I wanted to follow the story and never felt things were too slow. The acting was good. It must be a challenge for a woman to act and have her audience believe she is an android. Yet she still appealed to me as a woman. Very good mix and I feel the director did a good job. This movie was not just good. It was different and appealed to me more as a drama. But this is a fantasy/science fiction movie. Just and outstanding story too boot!
