There is nothing like seeing a movie in the theater, it is only there that I can let go and forget about everything, be it just two hours.
Phantoms -- all you need to know
I hate to say this because it has been said a thousand times before in a thousand different movies.. but here it goes :
The book is SO much better. Since this is a comment space for the movie, I can only say that it tried to live up to the book, but it just simply could not be done. I think the movie failed due to casting.. Ben Affleck should not have been picked to be in this movie. More so than Affleck.. McGowen was horrible casting. The movie also seemed to cut out the most important parts of the book and the special effects were not up to speed. Overall, I think this movie would have been great if it were made in 2005, the special effects would have made it much better in the end. Also, if Hollywood hadn't tried so hard to appeal to the young people by casting Affleck and Mcgowen, the movie would have been that much better.
There is still hope for the Koontz fans however, I would love to see a version of "The Taking" which is almost like Phantoms but with a sci-fi twist.
The Dukes of Hazzard (2005)
Better than the television show.
I am a 33 year old male, I can remember watching the "Dukes of Hazzard" on television when I was a young kid. I loved it back then. When the show was released again on DVD, I watched it just to relive old memories. I couldn't figure out exactly why I liked the show to begin with, maybe to my young mind it was funny but it was not funny 20 years later.
When I first heard that this movie was being made, I automatically dismissed it. Then when I heard that Jessica Simpson beat out Britney Spears to be Daisy Duke, I was overjoyed because I hate Britney Spears but disappointed because I only like Jessica Simpson a little more than Britney Spears.
I saw "Dukes of Hazzard" today and I have to say that I was shocked as I was walking out of the theater. The movie is GREAT. Jessica Simpson is great at Daisy Duke, Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott did excellent jobs with Bo and Luke Duke as well.. The movie is MUCH More entertaining than the television show was.
I have read some people say that it is a disgrace to the memory of the Dukes of Hazzard. I don't agree at all. It is a great remake of a awful television show. I was most shocked by what I thought of Jessica Simpson as Daisy Duke. I wasn't expecting much from her, but I have to say that she made the movie. A VERY GOOD start to what I hope is a great movie career.
