High School Musical (2006)
A cheap rip off of many classic movies
First of all let's get this out - I cannot **stand** this movie. As far as I'm concerned Sharpay was the only good thing in this movie, and that's only because she occasionally made me laugh because it seemed like overacting. This movie had moments that were original and were OK to watch but the rest of it seemed to just be a rip off of some other movie I've probably seen too many times. The acting doesn't seem real, the singing was occasionally OK but mostly just hurt my ears and oh God, do *not* get me started on the plot or anything like this. Let's put it this way, I wouldn't be recommending this to my worst enemy any time soon. Don't waste your time or money.
this movie is a very relaxed, romantic-comedy, which is thoroughly enjoyable. Meg Ryan does a very good job as the genius niece of Albert Einstein, though she does believe in her own skills. Tim Robbins does an equally good job as the mechanic who falls in love with her when she comes into his shop with her fiancé after her car stuffs up. I loved Walter Matthau as the one and only Albert Einstein. This movie just has a very relaxing feel to it, while still keeping some sort of seriousness to it (if that is actually possible, it happens here).
I personally found this movie extremely entertaining, especially the old scientists - i thought they were fab and hilarious! This movie seems to have been underestimated beyond comprehension. If you have a cheeky sense of humour, this is the movie for you!
When a Man Loves a Woman (1994)
Beautiful, heart wrenching, MASTERPIECE
When a Man Loves a Woman is a heart wrenching, will-make-you-cry, masterpiece. it follows the story of an alcoholic woman who marries a pilot and has kids. sounds boring? so not. the very first time i saw this movie, i started crying about 5 minutes into it, and i didn't stop until the end.
it's the total opposite of a feel-good, but it's such a beautiful story, i'm sure you won't mind. some people argue that this movie is boring, but if you have a heart, it's the total opposite.
this movie has terrific acting from both of the leads, and as it such a different kind of genre to what Meg Ryan usually does, it's a beautiful relief. finally, she is doing a movie that doesn't fall under the category of "love comedy". she does such a wonderful job in this movie, i don't know know why she has done so many love comedy movies! everyone looks fantastic (if you can pick a fault with Meg Ryan's appearance in this movie, you're seriously strange), and does such a wonderful job of acting out their roles.
this movie has everything (except action but who cares? it's not meant to!). it'll make you laugh, it'll make you cry, but most of all, it will make you fall in love.
what is with this movie? it has a very disappointing start, middle and end, a terrible cast of basically nobodies, there isn't a single hot guy in this flick to perve on (come on gals, we all know we do, it's like a force of nature to look for a hot guy to perve on in a movie!)not to mention nothing for the guys...
but apart from all that, it is still an awful movie!! it's all based on circumstances that are pure luck and which might not happen were it real! i mean a normal biology teacher mum just so happens to know how to rewire a phone and she just so happens to be able to connect to a real number, one which just so happens to belong to guy within the district. and he just so happens to be young and able to help. he just so happens to know how to use a gun. he just so happens to care! he just so happens to believe a total stranger! and i swear, one more shooting at a pier... i mean, come on! how much that would really happen, i mean seriously! the writers and director definitely need to come back down to earth. the whole movie is based on circumstances that in some times appear a little coincidental and sus. what up with that?!
The Village (2004)
awful attempt at a thriller
this movie is absolute rubbish!!! it is the worst attempt at a thriller i have EVER seen!! its a disgusting excuse for a movie. the director n crew should be ashamed of this piece of trash! i did not feel one bit of suspense as the "surprise" was totally obvious, revealed too early and all in all i was just bored when i watched this movie. what is with all of the worrying about the colours?! i mean what a pathetic thing to have people worried about. surely, such a "famous" director could have thought of something better. my suggestion is only watch this if you have absolutely nothing else to do, your desperate and if you don't have very high standards of a movie.
