The 100 (2014)
Ignore 1st season reviews - big changes beyond
Early reviews of this series dismiss the show as teenage drama. And rightfully so, for at least the first half of the first season. I personally was ready to give up after a few episodes but had read that it did get better and I was not disappointed If you keep that in mind, the story matures quickly and becomes more complex, specifically in the latter part of the first season and starting the 2nd. You see the power struggles between groups, and between the "adults" and "kids" who now find themselves under very different circumstances than at the start off the series, and the rules in which they lived by no longer apply. Quite an accomplishment in turning the series around, however it still is targeted at a younger audience. The main characters are well acted, to the point where I'd say any weak characters are some of the "adults". Overall not earth shattering but enjoyable and an interesting premise.
The 100: Remember Me (2015)
Ghost Finn and a plodding storyline
The pace of the 1st half of this season seemed to move along quite well. Each episode had a reveal to deepen and darken the storyline. Unfortunately this premier after its mid season break just slowed way down and lost all momentum it has built up so far. Clarke dealing with Finn's death is probably the weakest acting the show has been subject to, at least by Eliza Taylor, and the multiple recurrence of Finn popping up behind people's shoulders and lurking in the shrubbery to "haunt" her was a bit cringe inducing.
In all not a whole lot in terms of plot advancement. Dare I use the word "filler". I think the whole episode could have been summed up in half the time in a better manner. Overall disappointed in this particular episode, especially since the season so far has been very interesting. Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come.
